anyone have any funny virgin honeymoon stories?
none here- but my brother & his wife- both good witnesses got married- didn't get to complete the act for 6 weeks- his wife had no idea he was so big- and kept crying & was afraid.
just another "well educated" witness girl.

We were both virgins married a bit after high school and our wedding night was incredible so no funnies here. The rest of the honeymoon wasn't bad either and still going strong. Sorry to dissapoint everyone who thought virgins and christians were all prudes.
i went to work last night and stopped by the employee break room and you'll never guess what i found... a copy of the watchtower and awake!!!
of course i immediatly filed them in the trash can, but seeing them there has raised quite a concern for me.. you see the problem is that i work at a correctional facility, and all entrances are completely secured.
that means that one of the officers left the magazines one the table, and the bad part is that it appears as if someone had been reading one of them.
I know, they get around don't they? I always discreetly or not so discreetly ;) put them in the trash. I think it's time to fight back if they get too obnoxious-- ya know, leave a nice little expose type pamphlet on the WT in their place. Or maybe return to sender style and dump them at the local hall.
do you think these people, who come in here, on this board and defend jws are for real?
do you think they really are good little jws?
do you think they really want to help us, or just start trouble?
I won't presume to speak for anyone but do think that many of them are either having doubts and get into the discussions to see what we have to say or they are tryin to be faithful to Jehovah and prove themselves to him. I am not being sarcastic here honest, but in the WT there is no grace and you HAVE to EARN Gods approval-you will never know this side of eternity if you were good enough for him.
And hello Keiser and welcome. I hope you enjoy the open discussion here. Remember that not all ex-Jws are scary, evil, hate God etc..... I personally left the WT because they do not teach the truth- most are well intentioned but are not knowledgeble about God or his word. I'd be interested in chatting sometime especially if you are a JW that cares and loves God.

my proclaimer's book is in storage right now, but i did a post some years ago on a picture in that book.
it's the picture of the dubs sitting down listening to joe rutherford rant and rave at one of the "7 trumpet" assemblies in the 1920's.
if you look at the picture, you will see that all females had their heads covered, and many of the head coverings were what looked like doilies or paper napkins!

Just to put a little modern spin on this I remember only in about 1995 or so a study teacher of of someone I knew would go run and put on a basball cap when her fiance came over because since there was now a man in the house that could be teaching she had to show submission to him while she taught. Doile, napkin, hat, and now baseball caps ;)

Life does get better but it's not easy.
For me it helped to remember that the point isn't whether I love my family or not, the point is do I love God enough to leave the lies even if my family didn't agree with me.
My family is still Jws too- although not nearly as many as yours :( :) My aunt who was always very close to me and all her children (4in all). I won't bore you with the long version but suffice it to say things aren't the same. In a nut shell, I joined at age 14 with my family, mucho drama insert here ;), and met some great friends. Through God, my new friends and my desire to know why I believed what I did I read the Bible for myself and ultimately left the wt at age 15/16. I am now a christian and my life is great- happily married, mommy of 1, great church etc.... My family even speaks to me a little now, lol. This is a good question.
I will always stay true to God AND to my family.
It's not about practising a religion to me. I love God and won't deny that and believing in and trusting in him is not something that can be just disolved because of circumstances. I also love my family and will do everything within my power to love and protect them. I truly trust in God as well and have experienced hisprotection and guidance over and over. I know its easier to say than do but I would trust him in that situation too and know that when I do that the outcome will be right.
Would I deny God because someone threatened my family? No, but I would protect my family at all costs and trust God.
Would I stop going to church because someone threatened my family?- depends on the circumstances-- If its a situation like communist china I would probably say, yes because I don't need to go to church to love God and more good can be done that way. If its here in america and its some crazy person I would say probably not, although I may stay home until the threat was caught because, again, it's not going to church that makes one a christian.
I would never deny God or my Family and would do whatever it takes to stay true to both.
Consider this: IMHO: If what you believe in is so despensible that you can throw it out if the going gets rough then you don't really believe anything at all and your word is pretty sorry and doesn't really mean anything.

how are these people selected?.

As for the 144000, jws believe there are 2 classes of 'christians'- and I use that term loosley in reference to them! The special, ultra chosen holy JWs that number 144000 and rule from heaven over the ordinary jws who are destined to earth. This is not Biblical at all but a misinterpretation of numbers and their desire to have authority over everyone else. The 144000 in Revelation are said to be ALL Jewish, All virgin, and ALL males. They are from a special point in future history. Jws do not take this literally aparently :( The multitude they speak of in truth is all believers. Rev. also says that both these are in the same place but Jws twist the words to make it ambiguos. The fact is ALL true Believers are children of God and there is no special class or ruling class.

i was born into a well off family in the wee year of 1979. my father was a water/oil well driller and worked days on end so i rarely ever got to see him.
by the time i was waking up in the mornings he was already at work and when he returned home at night i had already gone to bed, so most of my days where spent without him.
i had sister that was 14 years older than i was and she had severe brain damage and had to be placed in a state home when i was 18 months old, so i do not remember to much about home life with her, other than it was like we had a "big" baby at home with us.

Your story is very moving and I am soooo sorry for the horrible things you had to go through. Although I don't really know you I can tell that learning to overcome these things have made you a very strong and special person
Just to introduce myself: My name is Angie, I am the same age as you, from MN although I have family in your area, and was a witness for only about a year from 14-15 years old through the influence of close family members. My natural mother was/is a druggie, prostitute, alcoholic and I was taken from her by the state as a baby. I went through foster homes and finally was sort of adopted by my grandmother. Well, guess where my natural mother got her addictions? I lived with her untill 14 or so with no real parenting being done and moved in with my aunt who was JW. We were always very close but jws changed her for the worse. I joined with her because I really wanted to know God but had no idea what cults were or how they worked-- I was naive period. I left on my own after reading the Bible for myself and was on my own from there on in. I am now a christian, happily married and have a beatiful baby boy. Life is great-- even after what some of us have to go through :(

As I read all the stories of people that have made it out of the WT and all the books on personal experiences in the WT there is one thing that I have been wondering about and would find quite interesting:
How many of the WTs very own books-- the very words of Jehovah they claim-- are/were written by now apostates?
For instance we know that the esteemed Aid to Bible Understanding was written by Ray Franz. But this book is still revered among the JWs. They don't exactly advertise that it's author is an apostate and-- the horror-- a christian now.
If anyone has in their research read of other Wt books authored by now apostates lets start a running list and see where it goes:

the all knowing watchtower geezers claim christ is not the mediator for mostly all jws: .
jesus christ, is not the mediator between jehovah god and all mankind.. he is the mediator between his heavenly father, jehovah god, and the nation of spiritual israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members.
(worldwide security 1986, p10 par 1 the desire for peace and security worldwide).

Jesus is the mediator for man- All people that accept him and such. I mean he's not the mediator for those who don't pray cuz theres no prayer to mediate.
Jesus is the new covenant forshadowed by the old covenant. All saved people from Christ on in are under the New Covenant and saved through it. The Old Testament faithful were saved by looking forward to and believeing in the comming messiah.(Hebrews 11) All the Jewish holidays and sacrifices were fulfilled in Christ. Rejecting Christ and the New Covenant is to choose to be judged according to the law -- this results in condemnation because no one can live up to being perfect.
To the JW, Christ only mediates the 144000 who therefore mediates the multitude. This is unscriptural but that hasn't stopped them before so why would it now? :(
