"We're calling on your neighbours to promote a website"
by Simon inwow, it's true - they don't call to 'promote god's kingdom' anymore but just their website!.
we just had an old lady call and tell us that was exactly what they were doing and it has "lots of good things on their for children".

I just looked up JW.org on 15 different search engines. Everyone of them but google returns only JW.org links in the search results. Google is the only one that gives an exjw site which is JWfacts. And it only gives one link for JWfacts.
Let's hope people use google to look up the address JW.org.
When I very first got on line in early 1999, I looked up the official website for the WTBTS on AOL. I came up with a list that included several ex jw sites, my first time ever to be able to look at "apostate literature." And just like I always knew I would, I looked at it. I read about Ray Franz, his wife and some other couples who had been run out of the org for stupid reasons, that did not include apostate leanings. I set it on the back burner, but thought about it a lot.
It's obvious that the WT folks have made sure that when people type in JW.org, that they don't get results for sites that will expose them as a cult. Wow.

I'll wager that the number is close to 100 percent. What number? The number of JWs who have lists--lists of things that make them go hmmm or even wha'??? or huhhh? I had one. I'm sure most of you had such a list. For me, eventually, there were enough things on the list to make me realize my doubts could not be further ignored. I'll give you my list later.
What was on your list?

A Difference between Chns News and West.News- (Warning-Graphic Content)
by fulltimestudent inif you do not like seeing death as real - do not read on:.
i've noticed this difference before, in western (anglosphere) media outlets, the news is sanitised, with views of death removed.
a consequence is that war is not quite real to many living in the anglosphere.

Think about the American Civil War photographs and disaster footage in the USA. Part of the issue here is that privacy is valued. Who wants to see their dead loved ones littering a plane crash scene? Who wants everyone else to see the body littered crash scene on the news?

From everything I hear, Germany does much better at treating depression than the USA does.

DO NOT LISTEN TO ANY MEDICAL ADVICE IN THIS THREAD. Go see a mental health specialist.
Except of course the advice to take this up with your doctor or medical team. You can, however, benefit from reading about the experiences of others.

All anti-depressants did for me was cause me to sleep far too much, gain weight and some other more personal symptoms. I'm not a doctor, so I don't know if you are clinically depressed or not. As just a person listening to you, you sound more stressed and angst ridden than depressed, which can feel pretty horrible. Some people do well with anti-depressants. You'd have to speak to your health care team about it all to know for sure. I never realized how much anxiety gets mistaken for depression though, until I went through therapy to teach me how to put things in perspective. These days, I rarely feel "depressed". Usually I am afraid of something, when those feelings come on.
Sadness is normal during a marriage break up. Sadness is not depression. Everyone who is healthy feels sad during times of loss. One of the things a good therapist will do is to help you begin to identify your different emotions and to get proper perspective.
There are natural things such as specific herbs that can help, too. I always asked my doctor about them or brought in info for the doctor to get his opinion.
