Happy Birthday. Ya know, since you haven't always celebrated birthdays, just start counting from when you started. That would make him much younger than he really is, and gives him more years to rock.

"Tear Down the Watchtower Day!"
by 144001 inafter surviving what has been a rather depressing week, an idea suddenly came to me.
after being born and raised in the loathsome cult that is the watchtower, i was deprived of many things, including without limitation all holidays and the accompanying joy that goes with them.
as an adult, i've been celebrating all the traditional "worldly" holidays, but although i enjoy and appreciate them, i've noticed that there's something missing.

to choose our own holiday
I made up a holiday about 5 years ago. It's called Turducken Day. It's held on the first weekend in January. I make a turducken, and all of the other holiday foods. We do a polyanna <sp> so all the kids get gifts. I get wrapping and stuff half off because it's after Christmas. All of my family comes to this, and our friends. It has no political or relgious reasons, it is a family day. No one has ever objected to this holiday. It gave the kids something to celebrate, look forward to, and did the same for me. Now that we left, we still kept this holiday.

When I was pregnant with my first born, I was warned about having children in this time of the end. That they will never be teenagers in this system. I should have waited, yadda, yadda yadda. I have two teenagers now, the third one approaching.
I was always counseled not to have any more children, as it's the time of the end, and I don't want a suckling child while I am hiding. Ok, so the youngest is 5, almost 6 now, and not grown, but not a suckling babe.
I'm glad I had my children when I did. I am glad my mother always said, be independent (even if I didn't always listen)

We have always gone to the midnight release of the books. Even when we were still active, we read Harry, watched the movies, and even watch Disney movies. We just didn't tell anyone.

apostates going to be yanked from the grave??!! good JAH-LORD!!
by tetrapod.sapien insorry if this has been covered already.. my wife told me today that in one of the new watchtowers it says that no one can know for sure if an apostate will be ressurected or not.
apparently, they draw us to the experience of solomon, who the bible writer still said was burried with his forefathers, indicating that he was still kosher fodder for ressurection.. is this new?
i hope i am not causing undue sensation if this is not the case as my wife misread, or something.. i don't have the desire or energy to go through my wifes magazines.

I am thinking outloud here.
How can anyone know what god will do? How can they say who goes to hell, who doesn't, who will be resurrected, who wont? That is one thing that frosts my cookie. I mean, why is there Judgment Day, if they have already decided? What do we even need god for if they have taken his place?
Sorry for the angry vent, it just really bother's me.

I have a few.
Jesus loves you, everybody else thinks you're an a**hole
Most people want to spend eternity with Jesus, I want to spend mine with Willy Wonka.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel, it's a train coming to run you over.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I am new here, former JW left years ago.
by out of the box ini want to discuss my experiences with the witnesses.
how it began: i was recruited during the time i was escaping from a violent husband to a shelter.
a witness came to my door as i was preparing to move during the day without him knowing (while he was at work).

My children still feel resentment for that time in our lives when the children of the other JW's put them through hell (I never knew this). The guilt I have is not that I left the JW's but that I actually became one and preached to all my friends and family and left them all behind for that long! My poor relatives who had to be apologized to later on. That was hard too.
Boy, can I relate all too well. Welcome, and I have found that this site to be helpful and supportive.
