Europe traveling to US suspended. I dont get why UK is exempt.
UK isn't part of the EU's Schengen agreement. Schengen countries have open borders. UK doesn't.
this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

No. I stopped believing it was the truth. Then I started to think of all the things that I could be doing if I wasn't a witness.
so greta thunberg thinks the world pollutes too much.
specifically, the parts of the world that pollute the least and have the cleanest industries.
she doesn't seem to care about india or china who are the biggest polluters by far.. "how dare they".
My BIL whose a professor specialising in the disposal of nuclear waste, informed me that last Christmas Day, just as all the ovens went on to cook our turkeys, the year's highest demand on our energy supplies of electricity and gas, our wind generated electricity supplied just 0.4% of the UK's demand.
we hear how the economy is much healthier now.
are you better off than you were before, or the same or worse?
?.
Yup. State pension just went up by £40 a month.
jw.org is on collision course with russia.
the may wt study edition is full of prophesy related to the time of the end and what we have read so much in isaiah and jeremia bookstudy publications.. they found their enemy again.
jw.org needs enemy's to exist.
These days, everyone knows that the king of the north is Liverpool FC.
i was thinking about this at work the other day, and realized the one positive thing i can truly credit the jws with: .
i have no fear of public speaking.
i was a shy kid, fat, clumsy, with crooked glasses and worse teeth, who wore hand-me-downs in one of the wealthiest counties in all of america, who sat still while classmates got up to salute the flag or recite the pledge of allegiance.
Just the public speaking. I find it easier than one to one conversations! In fact I get off on it and feed on my audiences reaction. As for Best Man speeches at weddings, well, the last one I did for my kid brother even had the hotel staff rolling in the aisles. Just a born show-off I guess.
i just noticed the clam illustration of "reject brazen conduct" a young man in service walking past 2 others drinking beer and playing cards.
i know elders who do both.
.
So is the elders meeting in the pub for a few pints at the end of the meeting a no-no now?
one of my favorite actors is robert de niro.
some of his later movies were so so but overall i think he was outstanding.
meryl streep, i just never thought she was anything exciting yet people say she’s the best actress of all time.
Mark Rylance. He was superb in Wolf Hall. His easy-going way with King Henry was particularly convincing.
what were some of yours?
the big one in our hall was no frontal hugs!
these were generally thought of as inappropriate, only side hugs should be given between sisters and brothers.
No short skirts! The skirt test meant a lady had to be able to kneel and the skirt be long enough to also cover her feet.
myself being a born in and completely out for more than 30 years i see more of the damage of what this religious cult causes people .. part of myself leaving had to do with the psychological harm it was causing people back in the 1970's, one guy my age at the time hung himself out anxiety and depression.. the numerous suicides that have occurred in numbers is shocking to say the least.. then there is the many families breaking up.. marriages breaking apart because one member decides to leave the jws.. the deaths of members or their children from refusing a blood transfusion.. this hit me personally when my mother refused a bt when she was ill in the hospital and died.. over the years and observing all of these things reminds me how glad and fortunate i left when i did but i do find it responsible to others to expose this religious cult to what can happen to people who get involved with it and that's what i've been doing on this forum and elsewhere.

40-odd years on and I'm not passionately anti-JW any longer. I just don't want to expend the mental energy. Maybe that's just a part of being older. If I come across JW's I will avoid them now, whereas once I would have confronted them. Occasionally I'll see something that perks up my interest such as a ludicrous WT article about not having a colourful personality, or avoiding articles inhabited by demons, but generally I can't be bothered. I have so many other good things in my life to savour that I don't need to dwell on the negativity around witness teachings over much. I do enjoy much of what is posted here however; I find some of the insights written by ex's on other matters quite intriguing and worthy of consideration.
