"Your good example is much needed for the young ones the congregation."
by Yondaime inhey guys n gals, sorry its been such a long time since i've posted.
lately i've been very busy balancing between my school work and cult activities.
since i've been doing pretty well "spiritually"(enough field-circus hours, attending meetings, underlining my literatrash, reading, praying and serving as the mic-master) my coordinator grabbed me to the side after a meeting and talked to me for twenty minutes straight congratulating me about how good i am doing.. then he paused for a good five seconds and got all serious.. then he proceeded to tell me that the young ones in the hall aren't doing too well.

Whatever you do, don't try the depression dodge. I did that when I was trying to fade away and my Dad prescribed 6 months vacation pioneering as the only cure!
(I did the VP for 3 months and eventually got put on restrictions for loving my neighbour a little too well)

What if we could bring down the WBTS?
by derangedjdub inwhat would be your plan or ideal reason the walls came crashing down?
-
snugglebunny
I wouldn't want to bring them down. It would just set up splinter units. I'd like them to change their policies re blood and disfellowshipping, though I do believe they now regret ever putting them into place.
Get rid of the blood thing, the disfellowshipping thing and the 2-witness rule and i wouldn't have any more reason to quarrel with them. Apart from denying education, spoiling Christmas and messing up relationships generally!

I found a link for Song 119 - Keep Your Eyes on the Prize.
Try this one. When Keep your eyes on the pies was first introduced back in the mid 60's, everyone in our congregation started to grin and mutter: "Snow White's" song!

Here's another pic I found in my Mum's effects. It's outside the old UK bethel at Craven Terrace, London.
Bottom left is Stan Reynolds who I remember as becoming a kindly CO, top right Stanley Jones who was to be imprisoned along with Harold King as I recall.

How to Choose a Wife!
by snugglebunny inback in the day, when my family moved to a new congregation, i fell head over heels with a young sister who was an elder's daughter.
it wasn't long before we were talking about marriage and i was contemplating buying her an engagement ring.
my parents were not happy at all.

Looking back, I think if I had seen a perfect record card I would have been disappointed. I once met a pretty young sister who did everything by the book and was, quite frankly, a real pain in the bottom. Hours, return visits, bible studies - everything on target and more. Meetings thoroughly prepared, TV and films all vetted for content, Peter Pan collar on long below-knee frocks, pretty much like someone from The Little House on the Prairie, a real nightmare to be married to.
All I wanted was a good-looking woman who was loyal, fun to be with and who'd sit with me at a bar whilst I got slightly drunk. I got one in the end but it wasn't from witness -land!

Back in the day, when my family moved to a new congregation, I fell head over heels with a young sister who was an elder's daughter. It wasn't long before we were talking about marriage and I was contemplating buying her an engagement ring. My parents were not happy at all. They thought that she was way too pretty and my father commented that she could beckon a man over by just curling her eyelashes. When the CO's visit was due, he and his wife were booked in for lunch at our house and we duly all sat around to dine. My parents brought up the subject of my courtship with said lady, I think that they were hoping that I'd break off the relationship and become a pioneer or something equally tedious. The CO's wife immediately jumped in and demanded to know if I had requested to see her record card! According to her, anyone intending to marry a fellow JW was entitled to check up their field service record card to make sure they were doing sufficient hours in the ministry. Only in this way could one ever be sure that a prospective fiance / fiancee was up to scratch and worthy of a marriage proposal.
Isn't that the strangest thing?
