  A stranger comes to my door....He says he is a JW. How the hell do we know if that is true or not. He might have just picked up some mags at the local laundromat,put on a suit and tie and is now busy casing the place to do a break and enter later.

  They say they have their rights. In fact they insist on their rights to go door to door and bug the s**t out of people.The do not wish to be responsible citizens.We can't stop them from going and bugging people at their homes but why on earth don't they have to show proper identification. Many organizations that come to your door for various reasons (charities) will have a badge or photo ID. The typical JW can show or provide nothing. Since they go to doors on a regular basis this at least can and should be changed.

  A7N8X Deluxe Asus Motherboard

  This board is for a Athlon CPU.You are going to have to change your mind on your MB or your CPU.

  I have had no problems with Athlon although sometimes they seem to need a little more tweaking than the Intel boards.

  After 20 Years.....I Can't Believe It!

  no surprise, i don't post here much these days.. but today, i have to.. when i first arrived here back in january 2003, i remember looking at this very section of the board.

  personal experiences & reunions.. well.....i got the shock...the absolute shock of a lifetime.

  some of you, i'm sure, when you remember folks in your jw past, there are those whom you thought you'd never ever hear from.. last night, i get home from work (4:00 a.m.) and i go on-line, open my e-mail, and i see a name i have not seen since my jw days of 1983/84.. how did i feel?

  For those with family in the org...

  ...have they justified the un involvement to you by saying that the wts was only getting information for their magazines, that they weren't "aiding" them in their political work, so the involvement was ok?.

  imo, there is no justification for the un invovement.

  how do you reason with your family when they defend the actions of the wts?

  I asked my elder brother (who pretended he never heard of it), I said "do you join the Nazi party because you want a free haircut, do you join a political party because they are having a free dinner, do you join the YMCA because you just want to use the gym ?"

  To me that is a very logical arguement.The problem is the people we want to convince have long ago turned off their brains.They are nothing better than robots who can only blindly follow their master.

  i just read a few paragrphs from an older publication from the society.

  it's called "the meek shall inherit the earth" written in 1945....pages 24-27. after armageddon....dubs will be assigned where they will live.....they can't choose their spot.

  property tax and the home bible study

  since the j-dubs have home bible studies that can be considered religious gatherings , i was wondering if anyone knew if the jw can claim their property under the tax exempt status of a church .

  any info would be appreciated .

  I know of a book study that is held at the home of one of the anointed.Given the FACT that ALL the anointed are in charge of this silly little religion this should qualify as a tax loophole.......or not.

  Hockey Night at the Kingdom Hall

  when i was little, i can remember certain brothers?

  who would hide small transistor radios in their suit jackets and listen to nhl playoff games via a small earphone instead of paying attention at the meetings.

  these weren't teenagers or young guys... some were elders and/or ministerial servants... yet none of them ever seemed to get counselled for this kind of disrespectful behaviour.. did anyone else ever do things like this, when significant sporting events fell on meeting nights??.

  I don't think anyone listened at the hall but I know their was a rush to get home and watch the taped game before anyone could tell you the score.
