  Shunned in the Park...

  today was rather a beautifully balmy hot summers day in the uk and i decided to take the babies to the park with a non jw friend of mine (let's call her y).

  as i arrived in the park i caught sight of my best jw friend (let's call her x), one of the many who has decided she wants nothing more to do with me or my family.

  i went to meet up with y and x walked straight past me with a quick flick round , obviously to check my babies out!

  yeah thats tough.. she was another part of your life and although she obviously still cares for you.. her obedience to the WTS does not allow her to acknowledge that in her actions.

  My ex best friend (that is what I call her), last December when she had word I was home (for Xmas no less), called my son to get the scoop on me (he was never baptised). She couldn't of course seek out me.. its ok.. I know she still cares.. as does your friend..

  the difference is, now we build friendships that do not require us to be WTS followers.. its not a conditional friendship

  I hate Walmart!

  i rarely ever set foot in the place and will go out of my way to avoid shopping there.

  tonight i made the mistake of giving walmart the benefit of the doubt and walked in the door.. they didn't have the main item i was looking for, but they did have one other small item.

  i headed to the front to check out only to find they had only a few check-outs open and all of the lines were far too long.

  well I shop at Walmart for a couple of reasons.. one.. I work for Mattel.. and they are one of our biggest customers.. thus is really is supporting my own paycheck..

  but.. mostly because quite frankly it is blocks from my house. Its just more convenient. I prefer Target for the kinds of items I would purchase from Walmart.. however, Im not always in the mood drive past Walmart and to a few more miles and all the traffic to get to Target..

  Our malls are worse in Cali.. its mad crazy finding a parking spot..

  and all of them have lines.. no matter where you go in Cali..

  I'm tired

  got up at 5am, got the hubby up, we dressed and went to the surgery center (oh yeah i didn't tell ya'll that hubby was to go in for vein surgery this morning), hubby had surgery and we were out of there by 10am.

  went and got some crutches for hubby, van started making funny noises and the battery light came on.

  went to target to pick up some stuff for the kids, left there and car sounds worst.

  Does your boss have a right to call you on vacation?

  two weeks ago, i went on a family vacation.

  there was a voice mail on my cell phone from my boss.

  i didn't respond to it.

  Show me the money.

  I trainined an Executive Assistant/PA/Secretary who complained about her boss ringing her at 4am in the morning for a non urgent matter. At first I was surprised but though there must be two sides to the story. The next day she complained about her much the job was impacting on her and her 8 year old son. I asked her how much she earned.

  $140,000.

  I had no sympathy for her.

  damn... I'm an Executive Secretary.... I need her job.. I sure as hell do not get that kind of pay

  Vancouver B.C. to Vancouver Island, strategy please?

  as we (my wife, her sister, brother, and i)drive through parts of canada beginning next week, we want to conclude our canadian tour on vancouver island.

  butchart gardens is one of our targets.

  we then plan to go south from there through washington, oregon, etc.

  I took the ferry from Vancouver over to Nanaimo. We took the ferry which allowed us to bring our rental with us.. I was happy to have a car with on the islands..

  i just knew the gb would find a way to keep on going when the end never seems to come.

  well, new light shining brightly we all recently learned that the 144k are still being selected.

  no more need to "graft" new ones onto the broken branch.

  Does your boss have a right to call you on vacation?

  well... I have always told my boss if he needed me for anything, he can call my house or my cell..

  he has never done it..

  however.. while I agree in theory you have a right to your own vacation and to be cut off from work.. you win no battles by refusing to take a call.. sometimes politically it is the right thing to do..

  and maybe the difference between a rave review and an ok one..

  I look at my boss.. and granted we are on two different job levels.. but he was willing to take calls all the way to Hawaii with his family and also said he might have to cut his trip short.. now I know his wife would not have been happy..

  how could I refuse a phone call?

  Now there have been some trips where I have been somewhere that I knew cell reception would be a problem, I have told him I'll be unreachable..

  I guess the nice thing is I do have someone I've asked to back me up when I am gone. He knows that. I will tell him if he needs anything Mary has offered to help in my absense. Maybe if you took the proactive approach and spoke with someone about being a contact to cover you in an emergency need in your absense and then told him who offered to assist him if he required it, it might help..

  that way it appears you are still taking care of him, although through the hands of someone else...

  i live in the southern united states.

  i'm not too fond of the state i'm in but i'm within close driving distance of some very cool places.

  the people in the south are awesome, very hospitable.

  When is the non-rush hour in LA? 2-3AM?

  lol.. believe me.. there is a huge difference between leaving the house between 6am and 9am....

  than between 10:00am and 2:00 pm

  sure there is still traffic but it is moving! I love when dr appointments are first thing in the morning and I can go in a little late!

  Pray for my Mom and my cousin's family

  my mom has to have a heart cath tomorrow at 11 am, please pray for her, or send well wishes.

  this is the 2nd one she has had in the last 4 years.

  im hoping and praying that the doctors can fix whatever they find.. .
