Looking for Gospel Commentary Suggestions
by XJW4EVR ini am going to spend all of 2011 in the four canonical gospels.
i have a number of commentaries on the gospels already, however, i am looking for new ones to research.
i am interested in scholarly and popular, liberal and conservative, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

I read in a Book collectors magazine a year or two ago, that the first 2 issues of the Zion's Watchtower (July & August 1879) went for $12,320. They were auctioned by Winters Associates in Plainville,Ct.

Please reccommend older Watchtower publciations for stumbling purposes
by TheStumbler infirst time poster here but i've been lurking a while.. i have a question that i was hoping some of the watchtower historians might be able to answer.
if a witness was willing to read some of the organisation's older publications, what books would you get them to read and how do i get these books?.
my family are witnesses and my father is an elder.

Instead of arguing about what *might* have been done, ask him to compare the reprints to the original documents to show YOU where the deception lies
Hopefully his Kingdom Hall library carries the older publications to compare with the copies you'll have for him. Unfortunely quite a few KHs are riding their bookshelves of many of these older publications.

CoC is not the holy Grail according to Ren/Debator
by jookbeard inren/debator the constant references to this fine work is probably bringing more publicity then ray could have possibly dreamed of, carry on plugging away..

I really beleive that debator/Reniaa is a exJW or ex wanabe JW giving a antiJW witness Readers on this site have to be seeing the falsehoods this person spreads.

I saw it quite a few years ago. I ordered the tape(VHS) from Freemind.org . It examined the book"Jehovah's Witnesses-Proclaimers of God's Kingdom".Very good documentary, but I found the movie "Witnesses for Jehovah" a little more detailed.

19th Century Sears catalog reprint, ads for cocaine, etc, editorially removed
by FatFreek 2005 inas most know, 1906 was a year that drugs such as cocaine became somewhat controlled in the u.s. this from wikipedia:.
the pure food and drug act required that certain specified drugs, including alcohol, cocaine, heroin, morphine, and cannabis, be accurately labeled with contents and dosage.
previously many drugs had been sold as patent medicines with secret ingredients or misleading labels.

Interesting Len I just pulled out a old, original Sears catalog from 1908 and read the "Pure Food Law" which took effect Jan.1, 1907.
