i just had an amazing, albeit fairly typical weekend.
i wanted to share with you guys and most especially any who are lurking or worried that life in "the world" leads only to crack addiction, aids, satan worship, etc.. friday: i had a fabulous evening out to a very nice, funky little italian restaurant with my 10 of my friends.
they'd gathered to celebrate my birthday early.

I had a hard weekend, there was so much negative energy, seems like so many of my loved ones are having really hard times right now and are depressed and seem beaten down. I tend to take that on afterwards, I feel so bad for them. Its wonderful to hear this wonderful story. Life is a circle, it always comes back around!!

We come to this site for support in leaving the WTS, but we wouldn't go to an ex-Catholic group for that or ex Mormon. In leaving your addiction you really need support from those that feel you and have lived in your shoes. Please don't substitute one crutch for another one. For some smoking grass is not a problem, if they don't have an addictive personality, for others they feel that its just another chemical that keeps them out of their feelings.
Please do seek out AA, my partner is involved and it has helped her so much. In fact, she has helped me a lot too, some of the principals are very helpful in recovering from JWism.

I think that analogy is off-base. Its more like we are all ex-addicts of a cultish religion. We aren't JWs any longer (most of us), we can choose to not be, to leave it. If you are black you cannot choose your race. I for one don't come on here to slam JWs although there have been specific times when I did vent and probably will continue to do so. If her analogy were true it would be a site full of sour grapes and bigots. I don't believe that for a minute.

i just joined this forum, for two main reasons.

What an epiphany it is! Congratulations! How I envy you finding out so young, I was in the org until I was in my late 30s. Life was a struggle for the first 10 years afterwards, many lessons personally for me, there wasn't this list to fall back on or for support and it took me a long time. But I got there too and life is GREAT!!!!!
I always think this stuff is like peeling an onion, there is always another layer of hurt or anger or something that may come up later, you never know what will trigger that. Just remember you now have the tools and the strength to get through it, and you know you CAN do it. This will allow you to never be pulled down again.
