Did you feel uncomfortable going into churches when you were a JW?...
by Hecklerboy ini remember going into churches when i was a jw for wedding or funeral and feeling a sense of dread.
i thought the demons were going to come out of the walls at me.
and of course i had the self-rightous attitude that the church would be destroyed soon in armegeddon.. recently i've been helping teach a karate class at a local baptist church.

You can be an athiest and belong to the Unitarians too, I went for a short time too and found quite a few both agnostic and athiest along with a wide range of people of other pursuasions. I checked out the area where the kids go (I forget what they call it) and they were spending 2 weeks or a month studying every major religion. They were studying Islam while I was there.
To answer your question, when I was 9 or 10 we went to a funeral for a neighbor I think it was Methodist. But later we were told that if someone saw you going into a church you could be disfellowshipped. Perhaps that was the congregation's interpretation or perhaps there was something that came down from above, someone else that cares might look it up. But I know it wasn't just because we were afraid, we also weren't allowed or at least thats what I remember.

Depression is genetic. When people say something "runs in families" thats what it means. Doesn't mean that everyone that gets the gene in a family gets depression, some may just carry the gene and pass it on to the next generation. But because you have depression doesn't mean that you can't be happy. There are lots of tools and meds out there that can get you through this and back into health and happiness.
And it runs in my family too!

My Brother Counsels My Mother About Her Sister & Me
by minimus inmonths ago my aunt told my mother that because she associated with me and she knew what my stand for the "truth" was, that she must stop associating with me because her association with me was a way for "the demons" to get to my mother who could then go to my aunt and others.
my aunt told my mom that if she didn't stop her association that she couldn't continue with seeing her own sister on a weekly basis.
my mom will be 80 this summer and my aunt is 82. my mother told her that she would not stop seeing her (1) son that "takes care of her" and that if my aunt's conscience was demanding of her to refrain from association, then so be it.

Go mom! What a bunch of maroons. Don't associate with the one that takes care of you and then don't ask me to do it. Your brother seems to be showing the typical (in my experience) brand of JW love. It pretty much stops when someone gets old or infirm or misses a few meetings.

been thinking about this.. i am considering making the 2005 watchtower cd available as a download for a period of time from my server.
i'd compress it and make it small as i could, it would be in iso format so you then burn it using nero to cd.. i will look at how practical that would be sometime this week.. who would find this helpful?

it did not define what a jw was to consider a 'demon attack' and could well explain why the average jw considers their car breaking down, on their way to fs an out and out attack from satan and his deemunz!.

Well I'm not so sure I'd believe anything from TV, it can all be staged so easily. I mean look at the stuff David Copperfield does, slight of hand and illusion is powerful stuff.

Is there a human today who knows Jesus's opinion of things?
by DavidChristopher ini mean what did simple things like "bad associations", "sinners", "demons", "angels", mean in his opinion?
is there a human that will step up and take resposibility for explaining what jesus' opinion was when he called people these words?
can he explain the context he was using to us?.

Isn't that funny? What exactly does a demon attack look like? You know these people seriously need therapy and meds, and the WTS is telling them to pray harder. They just have NEVER gotten the whole mental health thing. What a shame that people look to them for answers and get such drivel.
