Parents' reaction to the baby

i know i'm telling you guys this a bit late, but i really needed to let it sink in.

we told my parents about the baby sooner than we had planned.

we told them last friday.

Nos, like others here I really feel you. I pretty much kept my parents out of my son's life because of the way that they are. My son grew up hearing stories about them! For a long time they hurt me, I carried so much hatred and pain from the years of abuse. But I did learn to forgive them. I didn't read the book Blondie and you have, but I just grew to realize that they don't know any better, they are poor, ignorant people kept that way by the bounds of their ignorant religion. Having accepted allowed me to forgive them and then I just didn't have the energy to hate them any more. Takes a lot of energy for that! Still wouldn't choose to be around them if they gave me that choice, but only because I don't let people that negative and demeaning in my life.

By the way, I'll adopt you! You're a couple years older than my son. I'm very happy for you both and I know you will be great parents! Please do let us know if you get set up on a baby registry.

DATING 101: Dating Interacially and my opposite: Will it Work Out?

so me and the guy i've been dating finally became offical since last night and its the first time in almost a year since i have been in a relationship.

and for once, i think i may have a winner.

but he is white...and 32...and plays the african drums..and teaches some weird dance in a school for kids having to do with cuban tribal dances..or something or other.

Stilla, doesn't matter a bit if he's white and your black, if you two are happy thats all that matters. No one else's business. I just don't think this is as big a problem as it used to be. There's a new movie out about a sister that hooked up with a guy sounds almost like the same situation, maybe someone will remember the title. The main thing I can say is, be open, be willing, and TALK, LISTEN, and then repeat into infinite. Thats true for every couple of every pursuasion.

Fried chicken & and slice of white bread

another thread today made me think of this....does it bring back memories for anyone else?

it was the staple food of every assembly i remember.

they made them in the morning and by lunch time the bread had absorbed all the grease from the chicken.

As a kid we had cafeterias at the assembly with hot meals. Good hot meals. One of the desserts we always looked for in the big conventions during those days was a big piece of cantelope melon with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in it. Later they went to deli food (yuck) all starch, never did make sense to me to feed people all that starch and then expect them to sit there for eight hours. During those days they only had one thing that I enjoyed, frozen orange juice. I ate it like a slushy.

Guess they have no meals now and expect you to be thankful for it. Must be because they can feed the folks BS but they can't afford to nourish their physical bodies. Poor poor WTS, doesn't have enough money. Anyone believe that?

i found this web site while researching jws (my immediate family on my dad's side is jw, except for my dad, who was subjected to the programming from birth, and who seems to be caught in some strange world between the jw world and the real one).. for the most part, these are decent, kind, loving people.

the only problem is that they are jws!.

i myself am atheist, so in theory i should them to be atheist also, but i'd gladly settle for steering them into a different form of christianity.. anything but jw.

Intensely lonely

normally i am fine but a glass and a half of wine and my heart is breaking.

the irony of it is is that i was as lonely as this in the congregation.. i feel overwhelmed with life and never seem to get anywhere or get anything done.

god, i sound pitiful.

Mary, I don't think I welcomed you before so allow me to do so now. Sounds like you are kind of isolated, thank goodness for the internet. There's lots of cool peeps here on JWD I'm sure you'll make lots of friends. Sorry to hear you're feeling down, hope things get better for you! Glad to have you on board. As for the feeling of being cheated out of your life, (I was born in and didn't get out until my late 30s) I can relate to that, but we all work through it, this list helps with that, great to have others who have a similar experience. (((huggs)))
