I don't think it they would use an "A,B,C..." order for those. More mathematical like sets and subsets. Maybe even more like computer code.

by minimus insince jws say they would do the ultimate and actually die for their brother, was that something that you honestly feel that you would have done?

When I was in, less than a handful would I have willingly steped up for. Now that we are all out of the lie, I would still step forward. I feel I owe them that much, as one of them got me outof the lie. But most of that is all moot. Love is the reason.

CONGRATS!
For your eldest daughter to take the initial step like that is a big thing I think. Good for her. I can't really add much to the good advice and caution already presented.
Peace.

I am more hopelessly sentimental and very playful. I can see how candles at dinner and scented oils and all that stuff could be fun. But I'd rather go play. I'd rather take a date on a jet-ski ride or camping and a bonfire or even 4X4 over old Blewitt pass.

Billions to discover if Life ever existed.
by shotgun inbillions of dollars are being spent to determine if life ever existed on mars, while life on various parts of the earth fades away at an alarming rate.
it always annoys me how much taxpayer money is used on crazy or useless things while at the same time many organizations try to sqeeze the average joe for more money just to help the poor and the homeless.

Wether the item is NASA and exploration of space or feeding vast polulations of people in need or even the huge millitary budgets, one thing must be kept in mind: when money is spent it just does not magically disapear.
It follows a path, a flow. For any one of the three that I mentioned, what is the flow?
In our current economic setup, ALL flows tend to lead to large corporations.
If a flow does not head to a corporation, it is diverted or it 'dries up'. You can crap on this idea all you want, I won't cry.

My Sister
by Sirius Dogma inargh.
i am not sure what to do about this situation.
it didn't work out so she just got into a relationship with this witness guy who she was sure was the one.

I think your situation is one where you need to figure out your own level of involvment; when to get into the mix, and when to just stand back and observe. That does sound cruel, but in the long run she will do what she wants to. She needs to learn the lessons that life teaches from our mistakes. Those lessons are priceless.
Your love for her is also priceless. As an oldest of four, I can sympathyize with you how painful it is to whatch younger siblings mess their lives up-real or imagined. Even if I knew the details of your situation, I would not have an easy time finding my place. How does one find the balance point of helping and getting involved, and staying away and letting them sort it out themselves? I don't know, but in the end all you can do is love them.
Probably not much comfort to you, but good luck all the same.

What Motivates You to Expose the "Truth About the Troof" to Active JW's?
by imallgrowedup inwhile responding to another thread, i was thinking about how so many of us talk about trying to help "believing dubs" out from the clutches of the wt, while at the same time, it occurred to me that we probably all have different motivations for doing so.
as for me, i am motivated to get my parents out because i think they have the right to know "the whole story" - not just the candy-coated version the wt espouses, so they can make better decisions about how they want to live the rest of their lives.
right now the wt makes all their life decisions for them - including whether or not they should look at what the "other side" has to say about them.

Sirona.
I almost feel sorry for people like that, their world is so small and impersonal. It has no magic or surprise.
OOpps. Sorry to hijack thread. That girl I mentioned earlier, she beat the tar out of me one day, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Why did she beat my ass? Maybe I'll tell.

skeptics and the paranormal
by Decidedly_Unsure inthe reference to what many would consider a paranormal phenomenon http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0%2c%2c5-2004040384%2c00.html was made in another thread.
i?m almost sure that skeptics will remain silent on this or say it?s an aberration and does nothing to confirm the existence of paranormal activity.
skeptics assert that they will not accept such things unless they meet some predefined ?scientific methodology?.

Its sort of like god and religion. The god of the bible is just men's view of god. It is bass ackwards thinking-trying to fit the universe to a human paradigm. If you do that, you miss much of what is really going on.
"Sit down before fact like a little child, be prepared to give up every preconcieved notion, follow humbly to wherever and to whatever abysses nature leads or you shall learn nothing." -Thomas Huxley

When I was 12, I had a crush on this one girl. We kissed in front of everybody one time. She turned out to be a lesbian, and I'm gay. So, "What's up with that?"
Is that what you had in mind for a story? I know its not much of a story, but the details would disturb some people.
