with all the events that happened in 2003, what will you remember most about this year, let it be on the world scene or in your personal life?
I'll remember these event's for 2003, for my personal life: I moved "home." Said goodbye to cherished family members. Excitedly awaited the arrival of new family members. Started a decent job. And finally, made my dogs "outside" dogs for good.
I'll remember these event's for 2003, on a national scale: Operation Iraqi Freedom. W's Big Lie to America (WMD in Iraq). The loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia. The end of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. American Idol's showdown between Ruben and Clay. (I know U2K, no idols... whatever.) California's wildfires and their new "Governator!" Saying goodbye to both Johnny Cash and John Ritter. And, 2003 will forever be remembered, by me, as the year America FINALLY got enough of Ben and Jenn!
many persons express why they are angry toward the jw religion but what gets you depressed, just thinking about it, regarding the witnesses?
It depresses me to know that Millions Now Living still have their head up their a$$es. It depresses me even more that for a very long time, I was one of them.

i can remember, when ever wraping gifts for weddings baby showers etc always making sure not to wrap the ribbon in the tradidional "cross" design.
we always either wrapped the corners only or just stuck a bow on it.. it was extreemely rare to see someone bring a gift wrapped in a cross ribbon.. anyone else remember back that far?.
is that practice still going on to this day?

That's all I use. I can't wrap other presents to save my life! I've never heard of the ribbon in the shape of the cross being prohibited, but it doesn't surprise me at all!
i thought i'd update.
today we got back from holidays and i decided to tell mom i'm gay.
dad got her to stop packing and sit down long enough to talk to her and i told her.

Congratulations! I know how hard coming out to your folks can be. Fortunately, you have the support of your father and his understanding that it isn't just a "phase" you're going through, it's who you are. I came out to my parents four years ago and they have just started to understand the whole "not a choice" issue.
Also, don't give up hope on your mom. My folks were active JWs when I came out, but became inactive about a year or so later (for completely different reasons). After they broke free from the crap the WTS was forcing down their throats, our relationship returned to a somewhat "normal" state. So, there's really no way to know what's going to happen next. Give your mom some time. What you got was her shock. Time will give you her true feelings.
Poz, Way to go! Having the support of your parents makes the whole process, and life in general, much easier!

I read and post here for much the same reason an alcoholic goes to AA meetings: support. This site is like WA (Watchtower Annonymous)for me.

i'll tell what i got on the other thread later, but i'd like to know what you all gave this year.
i gave my oldest son a set of chinese exercise balls in a beautiful silk box.
he needs to relax!!.
This was the first Christmas my whole family celbrated together. My sister and I agreed, it was very strange seeing a Christmas tree in my parents' living room, but we got over it fast.
I got my sig other some CDs, decorative items for the house, a silver tea set, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season One on DVD and a native-type wall hanging.
My mom got a "double-bucket" slow cooker and pajamas the wanted.
Dad got tools and stuff for the car.
My sister got a wallet with her initial sewn on the outside of it. Her hubby got a new Arkansas Razorbacks ball cap. Which he declared would be his "dress hat." (Glad I could be of help!)
My nephew got a Chutes and Ladders game, Bob the Builder DVD, toy tools that make a lot of NOISE! (you're welcome sis!) and The Santa Clause 2 DVD.
For friends and coworkers, we made homemade candles and soaps.
All in all, it was a pretty cool holiday. Hope every one had as much fun as I did!
