Heck, McCain as president would be better. But, I'm foolishly wishing for Kerry to pick him as his running mate. There's just something about Kerry I can't put my finger on.

kerry sucks
by kilroy2 inwell lets look at the other side.
kerry said he voted for the war just before he voted against it, and acted like this was a smart statment.

See, that wasn't so hard was it? It was not about censorship or freedom of speech; it was about thread hijacking. That being said...
I have to agree. I don't get Kerry, either. In this year's election, the Repubs have a sitting president that is as vulnerable as W. is and the best the Dems can do is Kerry? I'm worried W. might actually get re-elected. I hope Kerry chooses a great running mate. (I'm wishing, foolishly I know, for John McCain.) Sigh.

WE JUST SAW "DAY AFTER TOMORROW"

Went and saw the movie last night. When we came out... there was a giant cloud wall to the north with lightening on the north, west and east of us... very surreal.
I liked the movie, a lot. Much better than VanHelsing. But then again, I'm with Doc... for some reason I love those End-of-the-world-we're-all-gonna-die-and-there's-one-scientist-who-can-save-us-all-but-no-one-listens-to-him-until-it's-too-late-then-he-does-something-heroic-and-saves-us-and-while-some-of-the-minor-characters-die-almost-everyone-central-to-the-story-makes-it-out-alive-and-the-divorced-couple-gets-back-together-again movies.
I just have three questions:
1. Where did the name "Day After Tomorrow" come from? Is that how long it took to write?
2. Am I the only one who thought the Pres and VP looked an awful lot like W. and Cheney?
3. Did anyone else look for the WTs buildings when NY was being 'destroyed' by the wall of water?Country

My Gay Life
by joelbear init seems millenia ago that homosexuals dared not declare that fact about them out loud for fear of being imprisoned, beaten to death or at least ostracized by society.
true, some are still ostracized, some are still beaten but more and more they are simply becoming a part of the social fabric of families, communities and society as a whole.. was it just 1969 that a handful of drag queens decided enough was enough and refused to meekly be led off to jail for the night simply for socializing with each other in a bar in new york city.
i was 11 years old when that happened and was just beginning to understand that i myself was a homosexual.

Joel,
Thank you for taking time to share your story. In a time when there is so much hatred, violence and terror in the world, it's good to hear of love prevailing in the end. Stories like yours give me hope that my partner and I can make it 10, 15, 25, 50 years together. Congratulations on the life you've built with Mitch.

Words and Phrases from the UK
by Nosferatu inthis is mostly directed to all of you from the uk.
i listen to a lot of music from the uk, but there's some, i guess slang that i don't completely understand.. raw ramp: as in "you're a raw ramp".
i have no clue what this means.

The one British word that has found it's way into my vocabulary is: daft. And, believe me, when these Arkies hear me use it, they look at me like I'm daft.
(I hope I used it right. Otherwise I haven't been using it properly at all!)

RIP 1934 -2004
by ScoobySnax inafter a relatively short battle (5 weeks) my great aunt died this am at 02:30. of course she'd been ill much longer, losing weight, but she hated visiting doctors, and never wanted to make a fuss.
i saw her on tuesday, and felt embarrased to stand at her bed as she looked so bad after what the cancer had done to her, reduced her to someone i hardly recognised.
what happened to that glamorous woman of not so many years ago, immaculate in every way?

I been shunned by a Baptist,
by jst2laws injust moments ago i was on the back deck looking at the stars and a renter next door came out to do the same.
i said hello and we talked about where we were from and where we are at, spiritually.
after a few clues the neighbor asked if i had accepted jesus as my personal savior.

Not that I want to stir this up again, but I didn't see the responses until now and I do feel that I need to clarify my statement, since I obviously have offended Billygoat and possibly a few others.
When I said:
Baptists, JWs, Pentecostals, LDS... not much different in that respect, are they?
I was not intending to be a religious bigot. Ouch! Those words hurt! That is the last thing I want to do. I was a JW for far too long to criticize anyone else's religious choices. All I meant by that statement is that no matter what religion, you're going to have people who act this way. I felt that most of us, having been JWs, could relate to how the lady, a Baptist, reacted. (I put the other two on there because I felt it rounded out the comment.) I did not intend to put a negative connotation on it, but unfortunately, that's the way it came across to some people. Try reading the statement with these words:
Puppies, kittens, goldfish, ponies... not much different in that respect, are they?
For some reason, that doesn't come across negatively. (Unless you hate puppies. ) Oh, and thanks to Willy and others who tried to help others understand what I meant.
That being said, I offer my apologies to any that I may have offended. I did not intend to express negative opinions against any religion, I merely wanted to show their similarities.

American Idol final: Diana or Fantasia
by Mulan ini thought both girls sang amazingly last night.
both had one song that wasn't so great, so the contest was a draw for me.
since simon so obviously favors fantasia i voted 3 times for diana.

I wanted Diana to win , but was almost as happy for Fantasia.
I prefer Diana's voice to Fantasia's by all means, but I liked Fantasia's personality. During the "Specials" where Ryan Seacrest would interview the Top Five or Top Three... Fantasia came across as a very likeable, very down to earth kind of gal. What was the first thing she did after being announced as the 2004 American Idol? She put Diana in a death grip/hug and then told Ryan, "I broke my shoe!" To me, that's a very real reaction. But my all time favorie Fantasia quote was when Ryan asked her what new luxury she discovered while being on AI. Her answer, "FOOD!" Now that's my kind of woman!!!!
Now, I'm off to shave my beard because I lost my American Idol bet with my boss.
