Raise it to the next level man. Dont argue over biblical doctrine, or scandals like the UN. Simply discard the whole thing.... raise it to next level, man.
asked my dad the other day, a man who da'd himself seven years ago yet, amazingly, still believes 99% of what the dubs teach just what makes him believe the dubs have the "truth.
" what were the first words out of his mouth?
"well, they don't believe in the trinity...." .
In a word :
no.

an interesting piece that illustrates the shared mythology between palestinian cults is the character balaam.
of course we know the story in numbers 22-24 where he is hailed as a prophet of great power who dispite his desires utters a blesssing on isreal.
the talking ass bit has gotten much attention as obvious storytelling.
Hi Little Toe.
How's Scotland ?
Great draw against Holland eh?
Anyway, back to the post. Pete summed it up by mentioning that book. One point I found was interesting was that clay tablets were found in the region of Canaan where the exodus was meant to have led into. These clay tablets told us that the Israelites could never have escaped captivity from the Eygptians ; simply because that region of Canaan was under Eygptian control anyway. Pharoah and his army would never have had to go after the Israelites, since they would simply have told their armies to seive them upon their arrival.

Thanks for that information.
It's amazing how Bible scholars have attempted to create characters from various mythologies and claim them as their own.
There used to be a archeological myth that archeology in itself backs up the Bible. Maybe it used to, as wealthy Jewish and Christian businessmen sponsered digs and found that by discovering various artifacts and manuscripts, this was to say that archeology backs the Bible up !
Not true. Today, archeology is sponsered from all quarters, and people are less likely to make false assumptions. Today, archeologists are able to distinguish these artifacts, sometimes with results that show that the artifact or event was in the Bible, but it was manufactured to appear as such.
If any, Archeology disproves the Bible, and the more that time goes on, the more we shall see of this.
Hey, thank you guys.
I just posted my introduction.
Good to be here !
i have contributed a few posts over the last 24 hours, and keeping with the apparent tradition i guess i should introduce myself.

Hi.
I have contributed a few posts over the last 24 hours, and keeping with the apparent tradition I guess I should introduce myself.
I am an ex-dubite, after twenty years slaving for the organization.
I decided to call it quits roughly only one year ago this month, after a spur of the moment decision never to go again. The thought of it obviously crossed my mind before, but rather than fade away I just disapeared forever. No word from the elders, no word from the so called loving brotherhood that is so hyped up through the pages of the Watchtower.
I was never a good dub. No matter how much I tried, I just couldn't do it. I had no influence on the board of directors (the elders) so I never received any kind of special treatment, and I was always unlucky with the ladies as they didn't want to know an unbaptized spiritually divided cleaner of a brother.
Towards the end of my reign in the so called truth, I began to have serious doubts. I heard the news about the United Nations, which shocked me deeply... who would have thought the organization could do such a thing ??? Obviously, we now know they are capable of lots more.
I began to see the hypocrisy at the Kingdom Hall for what it really was. I had a serious run in with somebody in a 'position of authority' and that was it. I couldn't forgive... I shall never forget.
Now, I'm a billy no mates. lol.... you may laugh, but it is true. My friends, or so called one time friends, have deserted me because I have left. My whole life was the WT, and when I left obviously I lost everything. Its hard to rebuild, but I guess I will have to try.
After that short but extreemly boring low down, I shall end this highly unspectacular entrance with some wise words that I heard one time, which I shall not forget.
Stick to the plan, man. Just do your work, and shut the hell up.
Very useful when you have worked in some of the places I have worked in.
i've had two witnesses tell me that this is false (apostrate) info from the 5/22/94 awake!
i got it from the page of the ajwrb website, and it's supposedly from p. 2 of awake!
they tell me that's wrong...so...is it out of context?
Hi.
You could turn this situation naround quite easily to your own 'apostate' benefit. As I have always said, my friend, if they pull out a fist, you pull out a knife. If they pull out a knife, you pull out a gun.
Examine these two quotes.
Watchtower 1998 December 1 p14 Defending our faith
Jehovah's Witnesses have been targets of false accusations, barefaced lies and twisted presentations of their beliefs.
The accusation that numerous children of Jehovah's Witnesses die each year as a result of refusing blood transfusions is totally unfounded.
Awake! May 22 1994 p2
Youths who put God first
In former times thousands of youths died for putting God first. They are still doing it, only today the drama is played out in hospitals and courtrooms, with blood transfusions the issue.
a major event accepted by christians, jews and muslims around the world is that moses led an exodus from the clutches of pharoah and egypt into the promised land.
many doubters of this story conclude that this was merely a peasants revolt, not one led by some kind of god.
fortunately, we have new evidence that suggests otherwise.
Thankyou for the interest.
I didn't have a URL, I have researched by other means.
I quickly done a search, this looks quite promising.

This evidence shows us that there was never an exodus from Egypt.
Tell el- Amarna, on the east bank of the Nile, some 200 miles south of horsefly ravaged Cairo city, was once the site of the Pharoah Akhenaten's capital city. Archeologists were amazed when a group of peasants found numerous clay tablets inscribed with a cuneiform script when they were searching for decomposed mud bricks.
These tablets shown that the so called promised land of Canaan during the supposed time of the exodus was a province of Egypt ; therefore IF the Israelites had managed to flee from Pharoah, just managing to get away from his army after the parting of the Red Sea, they would have simply been passing from one Egyptian ruled province to the next.
There is very little attempt at realism in the scriptures. It has been argued that Archeology PROVES the bible. Incorrect. Archeology can not be used to back up theology. Neither should it be used for such.
At the turn of the century, wealthy Jewish and Christian businessmen pumped lots of money into biblical digs in and around Israel. After the creation of Israel, leaders were keen to back up their claims of a Jewish homeland by means of biblical finds, dictating that Israel has a right to exist as it has roots firmly in the biblical account.
These leaders and wealthy businessmen encouraged archeologists to dig with their bible in one hand, and their spade in the next.
Today, the story is gradually shifting. The Israeli / Jewish right to a homeland is like fine sand slipping through your hands.
have you heard of chuck missler?
i just got his booklet " hidden treasures in the bible", and this is an interesting statement:.
( comparing names in hebrew and their english meaning).
You are right Inv.
You have every right. I know that you are not betting your life on it; it seems that everybody has jumped down your throat with this thread. I think that people forget the way in which the Watchtower rammed it's message down our throats... but I think that the people here are just concerned about you falling into another trap.
I know that you are not going to do that..and I bet others think that also. Its human nature to be cynical of such things.. our experience in the Watchtower has made us even more cynical. People are just concerned, and with this comes peoples strong opinions. You have every right to believe, so don't let others take that way from you.
did your process of leaving the organisation and learning new stuff feel like growing up to you?
looking back at your time in the so called "truth", do you think you were misled or even "naive"?
even "innocent"?
Hi Ballistic
....me no Englise. lol
