i haven't been to a meeting for maybe 10 years.
i only know what's happening nowadays from the experiences i read here or the internet in general.. anyway, on to the topic: i started attending meetings at the age of 7. as a kid, the only thing i looked forward to at the assemblies (circuit/district) was walking around veteran's stadium (philadelphia district convention) during intermission, hanging with friends, looking at girls (as i got a little older) and trying to have enough tickets to get pizza!.

I hated those signs! Especially, when I was walking around with a rambunctious 2 year old, trying to keep my child quiet so I didn't get the stink eye by the attendant at my seat. Just like the JW's, you sit down and get the stink eye for having a wiggly kid and then you take them out and get the crazy signs shoved in your face. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
at first i was thinking, "jdub!
" since i know some jdubs that do this kind of sh*t. no really.

first - if you hope to become an elder, in the uk you will also become a charitable trustee.
you will not be given any training for this part of your role.

They DO hate their jobs, they are just told to parrott, "It's a priviledge."
Some of the most critical Elders I have met are the ones who don't work a full 40 hour week or are retired. They seem to forget what it is like for the Elders who are maxed out. We had on Nazi Elder in our hall that was always barking, "where's Brother so and so?" but he was retired, his home paid off, his kids grown and he received not only his pension but he was retired military. Received military benefits. He was one of the biggest as**(&%s!.
He couldn't keep his kids in the org. They left! I wonder why? (sarcasm)
i got baptized later in life.
i was around 21, i had left and went out into the world should of listen to my gut back then, but instead i disowned myself and came back into the fold.
before i could get baptized, the elder who studied with me said i needed to get rid of everything that was contaminated by this world: music, books & clothing,everything.
first and foremost, thank you so much to so many of you who have reached out to me over the past few days since my post on sunday.
i'm not totally in the best mental state, however, i do have a very small amount of people that i can lean on for support.
i relayed my feelings to a friend (my only friend, really), who took the initiative to inform my family.
from the time i was a small boy - i loved rock n' roll music.
beatles, rolling stones, led zeppelin, hendrix.
i started getting slighted for the music i listened to as i lay in my bedroom listening on headphones to led zeppelin's song " black dog " at age 14 with my elder dad looking suspiciously at me as i'm rocking out .
My Mom hated the song Lay Down Sally by Eric Clapton. The more she complained, the louder I turned the music up! lol
No wonder I turned out so evil!

l was wondering if others get the feeling that the world we live in seems not quite right.l can not pin point anything specific but since childhood days l often get the feeling something isn;t correct.you know the feeling of deja vu.
am l the only one to feel this way?ld love to hear from others and any storys they may have.having been raised in the jdubs maybe lm just suffering mild bouts of paranoia .

This is a statement my spouse and I said for years, while we were still active JW's. Once we learned TTATT, we fully understood what the "something" was. It's funny, we don't make that statement anymore.
i am now a jedi, so trust me on this.. .
why dis-associate, you are just playing by the wts rules?
how can you dis-associate anyway, you never thought you were baptised as a watchtower society member, you thought your dedication was to god, so why formally disassociate from something you did not formally join?
Like anything in life, it is a personal decision whether you fade or DA. Everyone has different circumstances. Some have no family that are JW's, so it may make it easier for them to leave and move one. Others have mates, children and elderly parents still in. Some have great relationships with their families, some not so much. When we were still in we hated the judgmental attitudes (it's one of the many reasons we left), so we try not to judge what someone else chooses to do in this case.
We all have our own stories to tell and it is not our place to judge what others do or do not do. We are perfectly content with the decisions we have made, they are OUR decisions. We are happy with that.
