We are so glad to hear attendance is down! We have not been to a meeting in over 2 years and wondered if the attendance was down. Thanks for the info. We are happified!
So much for spiritual food eh?
so here's a real life experience you will get a kick out of.. our kh has about 90 publishers.
typical meeting attendance during a co visit is right at 100 or so.
the rest of the time, attendance is a dismal 50-60, sometimes 70 on a good week!.

i am sort of new here, used a different username for a while but things got 'difficult' at home so i've since been lurking.... what i would be really interested to know, if you don't mind sharing, is what it was that triggered your doubts and initial research which led to awakening, was it a bad experience, injustice, changed doctrine?
for me, it was seeing mistreatment of young ones in the congregation, they're under so much pressure and as soon as they go even slightly astray they are shunned, either informally (as bad associations which pushes them further into the 'world') or formally - with elders dying to throw the book at them so they even lose their family.... ...then reading about child abuse issues in the press.... ...which led me to silentlambs.
...then jw facts, this forum and coc, wham!
TTATTelder..."If corruption is allowed in the lower ranks, then there is corruption all the way up the ladder."
Bingo!!!! We NEVER went to the Elders with problems or issues. Never trusted them...never will!!!

The total lack of love is what got us out. They hypocrisy is incredible!
I learned about Beth Sarim and how Rutherford was living in luxury and driving around in Cadillacs. I was taught that we never begged for money like the churches (ironic after May's broadcast). Once I found out about Beth Sarim things changed in my mind. "The truth" was not as it appeared to be.
We then started to read Crisis of Conscience and that was it for us. It was an Ahh Haa moment for us. We always thought something wasn't right but couldn't put our finger on it. Once we read COC and read what others on this forum had experienced we high tailed it out.
We decided for our families well being it was time to go. Our life has improved tremendously! No more judgement and abuse!!!
for some background, i am still in.
still an elder.
very much awake.

So frustrating! We see our family members do the same thing. It's like the Stepford wives.
Hang in there. Don't give up hope!
as of this june (i've already given my may contributions which are substantial) i am no longer giving money to support useless building projects that serve no good purpose.
i am no longer giving money at conventions or assemblies.
i am no longer giving money toward the circuit overseers upkeep.

"I quit contributing when local elders decided I wasn't good enough to baby-sit microphones anymore, but could still do toilet cleaning duty. To heII with that shlt!"
This exact thing happened to my Husband! He didn't have enough TIME in to hold microphones or anything else in the Congregation but they had no problem with him cleaning bathrooms or giving contributions.
We made up OUR NEW RULE...not enough TIME recorded, no more cleaning or contributions! Then we left! Yippie...life is good! We were taught that even the bathroom cleaning was a "privilege." Oh really? We let all of our "PRIVILEGES" go!
Now we are spending any additional money we would have contributed on enjoying our life or saving to send our kids to evil college. Also, saving for retirement!
We voted with our wallets! Any Lurkers on here? The best revenge is to vote with your wallets. Let's see how well these faithful ones can rely/trust on Jehovah when the cash dries up.
mark sanderson - here is some insight on his background taken from this site:.

congratulations, mark!.
after leaving the organisation 10 years ago i fought with everything i had to stay in my marriage and with my three children.
after a tumultuous number of years trying to maintain a happy family life while living in a divided home, it's finally over.
the religion is single handedly responsible for destroying my marriage and my family.

So sorry to hear of your marriage. Our thoughts are with you. It's amazing how much damage has been done by this cult!

"To widows who are in financial difficulty, to brothers and sisters who have lost their job or who can only find part time work."
Good for you! You are a person that society needs more of! Kindness and love is what we need more of.
in may's "we will never solicit for money, but now we're going to solicit you for the next hour" broadcast, we kept hearing about all the "facts" that the gb would like for us to know.. hmm...what facts did they leave out?.
-- $millions have been spent in out-of-court settlements of child abuse cases.
-- $untold amounts are being spent on legal defense of wt policies related to child abuse.
Sir82 GREAT POST!!! 100% correct!
Stuck...Your right if the broadcast doesn't wake up witnesses...nothing will!
bro sanderson has a 7 minute video up on their streaming website called "be willing to open your hand".. in it he tells us not to be "tight fisted" or "stingy" and later "regardless of how much we have or how little we have, we'll find something within our power to be able to do".
we have the responsibility to imitate jehovah's generosity.. there's a bit about giving to one another when we see the need, which is nice, then he drops in how 20 years ago the canada branch committee asked the bethel family for donations to the disaster relief fund, and promptly raised over $10,000.
i think that's pretty good going for those under a vow of poverty.. "the generous person will prosper" he says, then illustrates this using a made up story.
This little speech is a complete and utter joke!
During a difficult financial time NOT ONE PERSON IN OUR CONGREGATION asked the question, "is there anything we can do to help?" The question we were asked is "we have to take the Speaker to dinner can you contribute?"
We did not and would not take charity. We are hard workers and will work as hard a possible to make our own way. I think the only thing we would have liked is some kindness and encouragement during a difficult time. WE RECEIVED NOTHING! I guess we should be grateful to all those who couldn't have given a damn because it shook us and woke us up completely!
One of the MANY reasons we are out!
