Brothers with hearts. Where are they?

one poster here mentioned how, after he was appointed as an elder, things took on a more "corporate" feel.

i was an ms and as such went, dutifully, to the bi-annual meetings with the co. i was sorely disappointed.

i had imagined sort of a round-table discussion of trends and potential difficulties in the congregation, along with a coordinated effort to help people out.

I remember years ago, brothers who gave talks at the assemblies. You were completely blown away from the talk they presented. You felt better after the talk was over. Their perspective was spot on and you WANTED to be in paradise. NOW...they use fear tactics (bunker videos, shunning videos, human hot dog experiences, the list goes on and on). Fear is a terrible tactic to use. Imagine parents raise their children under the guise of fear. Some on here may have been raised that way. Man, that really can screw a kid up. The ole saying, "you catch more flies with honey than vinegar" is true in this case. WT keeps using vinegar and the concept of love does not exist anymore. Sad!!!

Does Your Family or Friends Call To Check to See How You Are Doing?

i ask this because i have noticed that many people in your life just don’t communicate like they could.. i realize i come from a different generation but does anybody ever use the phone and give someone a call?

i know of people who never answer their phone unless they listen to a message that would be left.

you are lucky if you get a text..

I watch my teenage child. He texts, instagrams, snap chats but no one ever calls. They don't go to the mall together (like the good ole days/malls are dying). Everything is at their fingertips. Their music (we used to have to go to the mall to buy our CD's, tape, albums, etc.). Remember Turtles? Now we have Apple music, Amazon, Food delivery, Netflix, Apple TV, video games (no more arcades) etc. Who needs to go out? Most of his friends don't even drive! They don't want to! It's crazy! You would think most of these kids would want to go out, like we did. My son invites some over and they eat and watch movies.

Even when someone gives you a gift. No more thank you cards. You say thank you or text someone a thank you. This is where I draw the line. I make him send a well written thank you card. It's the old timer in me . lol

The telephone is a thing of the past. No more dragging a 5 foot cord around the corner and into another room until it is stretched out to 10 feet. ha ha

I really did date myself with this post.

This is a new generation and it confuses the hell out of my spouse and I. I guess we did the same thing to our parents. Many moons ago!!!

Not many at all. My spouse and I notice if we hear from any still in family members, it's all about WT and the goings on of all the JW's. They don't talk about anything else.

JW "friends"?....I haven't heard a peep out of any of them in over 5 years. Well, one who needed something from me.

It seems that we only hear things from people when WE reach out.

This seems to be an issue not just with WT. It seems to be a issue with non JW's as well. It is a sad state of affairs. Everyone just seems to be into themselves. Go figure!!!

Some have passed away. It's a whole new business. The compassionate ones are gone and the still in ones that may have had some compassion left have to tow the WT party line or they are OUT.

so as you all know, my wife and i are not officially df or da.. a small event happened this week that i have to share!.

a family that we were really close to (dinners and catch ups several times a month , go out socially often, play sport together, helped them through tough times, like uncle and aunty to their kids, etc).

the wife's father died.

Vidiot got that one right on!!!! They could be very resentful of you. You stood up for what you believe in. This is something the majority just won't do. They live in fear. Watchtower instills constant fear in the rank in file. They know it works with the majority. 100% manipulation!

They don't deserve you and your wife Stuck!!!

We are showing our family that we are truly happy since exiting. I believe that they are perplexed by this. KEEP EM GUESSING!!!! LOL

Continuing congregation mergers

in the area i live in the pacific northwest, three spanish congregations we're merged into two a couple of years ago and in the next month or so four english congregations will be cut down to three.

both situations happened because of lack of growth.

a few years ago, i would never have imagined spanish congregations disappearing or merging but it's happening.

THEY act like the ones who are hurt??!!

it really amazes me when jws act like we are hurting them!.

many of us have found that if we stop associating with them for valid reasons, they act all upset and hurt that we would be "so cruel as to limit our association or cut them off".

i know of friends here on the forum who have been told by parents that they "will shun them if they leave jehovah" , and yet when the shoe is on the other foot and our awake friends shun them first, the parents cry and bemoan the situation and say how "cruel it is to deprive them of their company".

you might be a jehovah's witness if, to not feel guilty on saturday morning, you ride in a car with a group of adults driving in circles around town taking turns to get out one at a time to knock on a door that you hoped no one would answer.. you might be a jw if going on vacation meant going to a summer regional or district assembly where you did not need to pack shorts, tennis shoes, or tank tops.

you might be a jw if for lunch at the summer convention you and your family ate breakfast food from the holiday inn where you are staying for the summer assembly.. you might be a jw if the first thing that you think about when waking up in the morning is that it is meeting night.. you might be a jw if you introduce a person to another jw, not by the person's name by as my bible study.. you might be a jw if you don't celebrate christmas but will take the money from your employer to not come to work so that you can celebrate it..

Someone posted one time that as soon as you show signs that you are "weak", if JW's can not "fix" you, they will dehumanize you. You are no longer a human to them. Sad but true. They can't and won't get it, UNTIL IT HAPPENS TO THEM.
