1. As a victim of sexual abuse by an active JW, I am a supporter of Silentlambs and will help any who are on that road.
2. I am filing a complaint with the ACLU against the WTBTS for shunning as it relates to parental issues. I have spoken to the AG's office locally and also with NOW.
3. I am very aware of the alienation of affection issues involved also and am working to hold any accountable for that also.\
4. And the local newspapers know me by my first name now.

Why do we care so much?
by sleepy inwhy do we keep coming here?.
why when many of us have left do we still feel drawn to discuss watchtower issues?.
in the scope of the hole world the organisation known as jehovahs witnesses means little for most people but for us it's still a majour part of our lives.. we might even spend more time now thinking and discussing it than we did as witnesses.. of course it still effects us we will never forget what has happened to us.. for many the sense of deception and disapointment is great, coupled with the frustration that many of our former friends and family just do not understand us and our choice to leave.. we would like to see and end to this rotten organisation and hope that we can play at least a small part in that.

I care so much because I feel a sense of duty. Someone else reached in and pulled me out by my bootstraps, dusted me off, and showed me the world, the real world. I still have friends and family and I am just looking for some way or some word to help them.
I do think about Witness issues more now that I am out, but I know alot more now about Witness issues than I would have ever known while still an active Witness with my lines of information all guarded and sensored by the "unfaithful and indiscreet slave."

My father just beat my brother-
by ashitaka inone more topic.. my wife just called up to tell me that she was over my parents before a doctor's visit, chatting with my mother, when my crazed jw father threw my small 14 year old brother down the stairs and punched him for not wanting to study.. i've been beat, thrown down stairs, had potted plants thrown at me, chased around the house, and such, for not wanting to do the family study.. this is what the "truth" does to people, all you loyal jw's....take note...... (i'm so angry i'm shaking).

Make use of the school's counsellors also. They can report anonymously if you need that or they can approach your brother with you there and explain what needs to be done and what is going to happen so he is comfortable with it. He doesn't need any more stress right now and some positive actions and a stable environment will give him some security. Someone needs to be the adult here and obviously it isn't either of your parents.

Steps to take NOW!!!
1. Phone the police. Tell them you want to make an incident report. They will not act on it, just document it. Get the report number for future use. Go to the police station tomorrow and get a copy of it, it's free.
2. Go to the local court house and apply for a protective order. There will be an advocate there to walk you through. You state what happened and that it is on behalf of your brother and any other minors in the home.
3. Take your mother to the YWCA locally and have her talk to a counsellor about enabling abusers. She can be criminally lible if she doesn't stand up to him and allows this. They know what to do.
4. You have to act. NOW!!! Better that than go to a funeral.

I have compiled a lawsuit and approached the ACLU with it last March. They have reviewed the specifics of what I am seeking and have asked me to compile it and send it to them. I have been gathering statements and affidavits from people I know and am opening this up to any who would like to be included. I have not come forward before due to not wanting to tip my hand to any spies among us but plan to send it off January 1, 2002.

One note: a restraining order can be very specific as to who and when contact is allowed. Contact not initiated by you can be viewed as a violation while it may allow for contact in public places initiated by you. Once a judge gets the jist of what is happening he may tailor one for you.
