A possible way for the Watch Tower to generate revenue via their website.
by adjusted knowledge inearlier in the week someone posted the potential value of the jw website based on visits and if they used advertisements.
many stated they would never do that but i propose they could.. besides their real estate profit making business model, they have the conventions as cash generating machines.
they give directions to their members to which hotels/motels to use.

Strickly soeaking a roku isnt needed. You can stream from a variety of devices, just as you can from a site like netflix. The roku is a bridge between the internet and your tv and makes it easier for those not tech savy. But it is frankly stunning that they are using a brand name like that and i know at least 6 in my congregation who purchased a roku for that specific reason

Im one of those that would have said "never" in the past but ive seen too much change to not accept the possiblity. In addition to your suggestions i could also see a suggested donation for jw TV. For those that are fincially strapped the congregation elders could write them a letter or some similar arrangment, perhaps even putting the onus on the congregation directly to pony up the mony for those who cant afford it themselves. -

(Knock Knock) Who's there?
by Coded Logic inif jws knocked on your door what would you say?.
i know jws don't really do "ministry" anymore (just leave special campaign tracts at the door and run away as fast as they can so they don't have to talk to anyone) but if they ever actually tried to have a conversation with me i wonder what i would say.
most likely i'd ask about matthew 4:8 where it says the devil took jesus to the top of an unusually high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world.
-

The watchtowers stance is that 1) jesus was shown a "vision" of all the kingdoms (referance the greatest man publication) 2) yes jonah was literally in the belly of a big fish for three days. The bible says it, its true.
Not that im suggesting you shouldnt try, individual dubbies may actually stop and think but those points likely wont phase an average witness

Thank you for sharing the link, good catch.
i also tend to agree with BOC. They will find some rational to sell for a profit and rebuild/remodel somewhere else and pocket the profit. Its what the worlds largest real estate company does...

New Site Problems
by The Searcher inhi simon - i'd sent you an email regarding this problem;.
i cannot see the captcha facility to enable me to prove i'm a humanzee and log-on.
so i could not gain access to my account and participate - despite trying numerous suggestions provided on the internet.. i tried one last thing - i downloaded mozilla firefox (never tried it before) and it by-passes the captcha function and gives me access now.. i look forward to getting acquainted with the new-look web site.. thanks simon..

Sailing the titantic as if it were unsinkable Was a horrible mistake
Flying a hydrogen gas filled blimp with thermite covering was a horrible mistake
bunging jumping out of a blimp 100 feet off the ground with 150ft bungee cord is a horrible mistake
a few sign in issues dosent seem all that bad.... But i do like your flair for the dramatic greener :)

Doc, im sure it is largely dependant on the area but i had a childhood friend who became a CO on the east coast of the USA. He confided that he PLANED on receiving around $500 per visit. He was disapointed if it was less than that.. I asked if he ever felt it swayed his impartiality in dealing with the friends.... His reply..." Those that are incluned by jehovah to give money arnt the type to get in trouble". This was a little less than a year ago. I dont know if those economics hold up in less affluent areas but here it seemed pretty standard -

Status of people shunned before rule change?
by rebel8 inback in the early 1980s, some congregations were "disassociating" unbaptized people who committed alleged disfellowshipping offenses and weren't repentant.
it was announced from the platform in the same way, "so and so is disassociated," followed by 1 scripture about shunning and another about the specific sin that person had committed.
the ritual shunning was exactly the same as dfing.

I am not in the least supprised that no one ever visited or apologized. Standard dubbie practice... They were right 'at the time' and thats what counts in their eyes. -

We are talking about two different things, as fine as the hairs being split organizationaly are...
rebel asked about someone who was termed "disassociated", although the situation seems to fit more in line with what blondie referanced as someone no longer viewed as an "approved associate".
Someone dissociated will be treated as DF'd. Someone who was never baptised will not be, in my experiance, treated as DF'd, nor does the org say they should, as the referance blondie shared showed. The reality though is that athough not treated as DF'd they are treated poorly, 'after all they did something that disqualified them as publisher so they cant good associated'.
