Excited about the CO visit
by StarTrekAngel induring the many years of being a jw, i could never really bring myself to be exited about the co's visit.
this has been an issue that always kept me wondering back to religions.
why could not feel the same happiness that made everyone around me cry during the sunday service?

He is given no lattitude. The outlines are assigned by the branch. The only leeway he had is local needs. It may different in another country however or possibly maybe one of you is hearing the "A" talks and one the "B" talks (one is given the first six months vist the other is given during the second six month visit) -

Funny story about dumb JW rules
by cookiemaster insome years ago (the year when i got baptized), i was at a district convention (or whatever they call them these days) with my best friend.
he had a part in one of those acting parts at the convention (i have no idea the term jw's use for them in english).
anyway, we were both seeing through the bullshit of the borg but weren't aware at the time of this forum or other "apostate" groups, nor of the full extent of the perversity of this religion.

Thats why i said 90%, but whichever he was in the fact that they admit all faithful men of old had beards is telling and shows there is no grounds to forbid them today -

Let me point out something even more silly in the story....
90% of the dramas (the acting thing your friend was in) have the characters BEARDED because its historically acurate... So they made him shave to put on a fake beard..... Hmmmmmm.....

Riddle
by Coded Logic infilm: a young man is given a powerful sword by a wise old man so that he can save the princess and defeat an evil sorcerer.
at the end of the film he saves all his friends but isn't able to defeat the sorcerer.
which film is it?.

I would argue obi wan wasnt a friend, he was a mentor. I would also point out that obi wan didnt die, his time was simply up and he joined with the force as is evidanced by his appearances in the last two movies. -

Am I a Luciferian??
by freemindfade inso my uncle wrote me a long letter out of concern, it was filled with bit of love and concern here and there but also a lot of staunch dogmatic and at times down right disturbing thoughts and assumptions.
if you doubt the bible or jw.org, seems even close family feels you are on a one way track to death by godville.
anyway, he accused me of being a luciferian.

So, every sin can be forgiven, except Apostacy? Right...that makes sense.....
by stuckinarut2 inok, so we know that the wt teaches that every sin can be forgiven, but if one leaves the org and becomes a "vile apostate", that is "sinning against the holy spirit" and can not be forgiven?.
so, murderous sick people are ok.. child abusers...ok. violent drug dealers ...ok. war mongering genocidal killers...ok. but, speak against the gb....not ok....you are the worst of the worst!.
makes perfect sense really hey?.

The org does not teach any specific sin is unforgivable, rather the attitude of the person determines if they have unforgivably greived the HS. Apostates can and are reinsted at times, although the ks book warns about being fooled by them too easily. There was also a recent article sharing the life experiance of someone who doubted (ie apostate),but came back into good standing.
