I too was madly in love with a Jehovahs witness... then I married her. Cured me of that.
But to your point.... What exactly is the rush? Not to be overly pointed but it seems that in a fairly short period of time all your questions will be answered. Her meetings with the ministers (called elders in witness parlance) won't last more than a week at most. Your 52 years old. at that age you know full well a little patience goes a long way. Relax. Let it play out. You will know soon enough just where you stand with her. Read up on this site and see exactly what the real life experiences of witnesses are understand that neither you nor her are different. Neither of you are special little snow flakes. The problems that the religion creates for them it will create for the two of you. Its a time bomb waiting to explode if your not fully ready and aware.
Relax and read up :)

Need advice
by Darkknight757 inhi.i've been pouring over this site for the past few days looking for some advice and i hope there is someone here that can help a guy out.
i'm desperate.....short bio: i came into the organization after high school and shortly after married a wonderful girl who was born-in.we have been happily married now for nearly 20 years and things were well until 2015 hit.
by the way, i currently serve as an elder and have the ""privilege"" of being the "watchtower overseer".. either here nor there, we were told we would never have children but late last year my wife became prego!!

Dark knight.... you could be telling my story in many ways. I was Wt study conductor when i realized the truth about the truth. I ultimately used it to spread a little truth, to ask thought provoking questions and general be a bit of a 'dark sheep' elder for a while... but the stress ate me alive. A chance came up for me to be secretary and I jumped on it and used that as my reason to step down as WT conductor. The real relief came when I finally got out of being an elder all together.
The best thing I can say is that its a process. Its common that when we realize the truth we want to shout SHIT!!!! from the rooftops and beat ourselves for not seeing it sooner. We want to hurry up and convince our loved ones that its not the truth and run like hell from the whole thing.....
Not gonna work. take it from the countless experiences on this board, that plan is doomed to failure. Im not saying you should pretend forever, that also is doomed to failure. The most successful path is one of measured steps.
Step down from being an elder.
about six months after that you can begin really slacking off in FS.
About six months after slacking in FS you can duck meetings more and more....
in a short year maybe year and half you can be all but gone.
It sounds easy but I know full well the emotional and social complications of such actions.. but thats the best, highest probability of success pathway.
In the end, you and only you have to live with the results of your decisions and actions. Take everything we all say on this board with a grain of salt, remembering YOU have the final say and the final responsibility for your actions.
Take your time. Be smart. Be strong. We are all here cheering you on.

How was it for you when you had to shun someone?
by Anator ini remember a good friend when i was in and active who was d'fd.
when he started coming back, for me at that time is was gut-wrenching not to say 'hello' or at the very least encourage him to continue.
i thought even at this time, does this act of shunning really effective?

I flat out refused. I can't explain it, I followed cult rules mostly, but that one never sat well with me. Im too loyal to my friends. I don't count "people who's name i know" as a friend... by the time someone is my friend its serious. Hell if i was gonna ignore them. -

Did Jesus really die on a cross?
by macys inbeing raised a catholic we had lots of crosses around the house.
when my family converted to this cult they were all removed and destroyed in case they had demons in them lol but at this juncture in my life i do not even know if jesus as the way he is portrayed in the bible was real.
yes a man named jesus did live and die 2000 years ago and probably on a cross but he was definitely not the son of god.

Thats exactly how i see it as well simon. I dont want to. I want them to crash and burn and go broke today... But for exactly the reasons you set out i simply can not see it, as much as i want to. Like cockroaches they will survive. They've been doing it for 120 years and have gotten good at it. -

Update on Australian Royal Commission - Proposed Redress
by Pants of Righteousness inapologies if this has been posted previously, but this news item has appeared today regarding the proposed redress for abuse victims following the australian royal commission:.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-10-27/labor-pledges-payments-for-sex-abuse-survivors/6886864.
what's interesting is that in january it was proposed that the federal government contribute almost half of an estimated $4.3 billion redress scheme.

Are you kidding me???? I would be livid if the united states government offered one cent to pay victims of church scandals! If there is no punitive effect then what the hell is the point????
Make ANY church or organization that is found to be negligent pay until they are broke. Thats one goal of a lawsuit, to hold people and organizations accountable, often fincially, to discourage future negligence. Hold KH's, assembly halls branch facilities any bank acount with the desert gods name etc etc. Auction off the so called bible history display they are so proud of.... I would send their worthless asses to dig through landfills to find old wt and awake mags for recycling until every dime was paid before a single penny of innocent peoples or national money was ever considered!
Ok, now that my righteous indignation has been voiced, i give this proposal a very low possiblity of comming to fruition. Hopefully common sense will dismiss this and hold the perpetrators totally and solely responsible.
