  I Hate the Sound of the Word Jehovah

  listening to clips of the latest manipulative video from the watchtower i realised how much i detest that word - jehovah.. sometimes i have thought it would be interesting to observe a meeting or part of a convention.

  every time i heard that word i would be unable to stay in my seat.. i have a visceral reaction every time i hear it.

  it stands for so much that i have contempt for.

  Which is why, cofy, i refuse to even type the cursed name. I simply refer to it as "the desert god". I have even trained myself to read the letters as "desert god" so i dont have to hear the word in my head.

  Phew! Sick with the worst flu like virus in years and nothing I can do about it.

  last week i came home from school early not feeling well.

  by 5 o'clock i was shaking, had a high fever, body aches all over, headache, nausea, dizziness, muscle cramps everything you can think of.

  i thought i was lucky because everyone in my school is sick and i seemed to not get it for weeks.

  Sorry to hear that , having the flu sucks.... Be sure to drink plenty of water and theraflu (over the counter flu medication in USA) is wonderful stuff ;)

  Special Pioneer Sister-in-Law and Husband just got their letter.

  well, my sister-in-law and her husband, special pioneers for only a couple of years, just got their letter.. her comment was along the lines of, "they're having to do this because they forgave all those kingdom hall loans a few years ago and the brothers aren't donating anymore.".

  when my wife told me, i laughed so hard i farted.

  Bethel layoff question

  with the layoffs of bethelites and special pioneers, does anyone know if they get some sort of "redundancy" payout?

  For afrikanman and everyone else posting legal definitions and such i get it. I really do. But the legal definition of an employee in no way supersedes the vow of poverty. You willing declare yourself a nonemployee in advance. You willingly state your, essentially, a monk or a nun. All your legal twists and turns are irrelevant.

  I also understand that as bethelites we (yes we, i was there for a year) had expectations of a bit of loyalty, some godly treatment as it were.... But those were OUR expectations, OUR preconceived ideas. Those dont change the law or the legality of what we signed.

  Really good point. I also always figured that if it was soooooooo goddamn important that somebody be warned... Shouldnt GOD do it himself....? I mean, if its soooooooo bad that he has to kill someone and its sooooo bad that if i dont warn them i have to die.... Why dosent god warn them himself? Why send me? Its complete bullhockey and a total shifting of responsibility.

  Its also good cause to take the judeo/christian narrative for the manipulative nonsense it is

  i am inclined to start this thread in response to some comments made in other threads.

  i have been coming around these forum for quite some time now so whatever you find in here is not just related to something someone may have said this week.

  it can go months back as well.. i have seen many who claim to respect the belief of others but when it comes down to applying it into practice, things take a whole different tune.

  I like the buttons.... I personally am not using the dislike often as i do not want to 'hit and run' on something as opossed to discussion but i do appreciate being able to "like" something even if i dont want to add something specific beyond my general agreement

  The org isnt stupid. There is a reason you have to sign a vow of poverty. Bethelites and special pioneers will get nothing but a tip of the cap and a 'have a nice day'.
