Actually ruby it shows nothing of the sort. The problem is no one “returns” of their own free will from being df’d. When family and friends are cut off its an inducement to return under duress. In order to know who really return of their own free will the shunning aspect would have to be removed and then see who stays away and who chooses to come back based simply on religious virtue.

by Isambard Crater inthat's what i've been told by a family member (elder) who went to one of the regional conventions in the north of the u.k lately, who told me the 300 or more disfellowshipped who returned to jehovah by attending show that the end is so close, just like the final talk says..

Counter-protests to Free Speech Rally in Boston
by Anony Mous ini never thought i would see that in the us, a "free speech rally" (which has distanced itself from and organizers have nothing at all to do with the right, republicans or extremism) is being counter protested by thousands in boston today, the counter protests being organized by a coalition of black supremacists and sjw's.. on the other hand, google is building a database of speech that doesn't align with the left-wing political values.. i'm not sure what youngsters are thinking these days, but free speech used to be the cornerstone of american civilizations only a few decades ago.
the only way to drown out "bad" free speech is more free speech..

i worry when we start saying something is clear simply because we wish it to be so. Why is it clear? The organizers of this event planned it long before the Charlottesville fiasco and have done and said everything they can to distance themselves from that. Is free speech somehow liked to nazis or the kkk??? Is anyone who claims to be a patriotic american going to be viewed a right wing nazi extremest? Its insane to link this boston event and some kkk rally 600 miles and 5 states away.... but thats what just happened.

God all this laundry talk makes me reminisce... it for damn sure was prision. For everyone in it, brother and sister alike. By the time i was there, “sisters” could council new boys... the overseers would tell us this wasnt the congregation so it was ok... and then in the next breath tell us to obey theocratic order because this was bethel. I left as soon as i could.

by Colinconfused ini would like to state publicly, on this forum, i no longer hold the views i had a year ago.. with much thought, research, study and logical examination i have come to a better understanding of my beliefs and where i stand on all these issues.. i'm very happy to announce i have returned to healthful teaching of the holy scriptures and i firmly believe that the governing body of jehovah's witnesses is the faithful slave.. sorry if i have contibuted to any kind of stumbling and know that if i can turn things around then there's hope for all who come to there sence.. phill4:6,7.

by Magnum inso, now that some time has passed, i’d like some input/thoughts/analysis/etc.
on the jw construction situation in the last few years.. first, why did they discontinue the rbc arrangement and institute the ldc arrangement?
was it for more and/or better control?

Its so infuriating. I swear everytime i think ive moved on from it i read another experiance, and there are 100’s if not 1000’s in the US alone, and i get angry all over again. I suppose everyone who leaves the org has issues that have touched them personally, some much more serious than others. In the grand scheme child abuse is worth caring about and kingdom hall scams not so much.... but it burns me anyway

on the jw construction situation in the last few years.. first, why did they discontinue the rbc arrangement and institute the ldc arrangement?

Really? I didnt know that info was still around and i hate to derail the thread but i will try to make this next piece of info topical...
the old hall sat on the exact site of brother smiths house and wasnt subject to any specific regulations beyond whatever the building code of its time required. The minute plans were made to build something new on the site all current codes and regulations were applicable.
In the end that pos hall you see on street view, just single kh auditorium with absolutely no style or particular class, cost a little over a million bucks to build. 1.15 as i recall. And the land was already owned., as my story covered. That was all meterials (not very much) and site work. The rbc didnt want to handle the site work although at first they said they would so the local friends, who didnt want a new hall to begin with, got stuck with a bill for 700k for the site work alone. The drainage system is of course a good thing and handles all the parking lot run off in a very environmentally friendly fashion and i support that part of it... but it dosent lessen my anger at the branch

I wish I had not gone to the meeting last night
by stillin inthe first thing i saw when i went in was the two video screens having the watchtower singers chorus doing a number.
the sound wasn't up enough to make out the song, but the video was grotesque.
the singers were swaying to the music, all independent of each other, no discipline, actually sloppy-looking.
