Sometimes when we drive back home at night i ask my wife why she doesn't feel sleepy and close her eyes? That normally leads to speed as the car and traffic allows! Once we went on a dry early sunday morning in summer to an assembly and got the the car to drive 240km/h - never got that again due to taffic. Till now i had very much luck ... because if you go that fast and come to a speed limit at the Autobahn you normally don't push the brakes - and if it goes into maintenance it could mean to go down to 100/80/60 km/h in a short way. But inner city - esp before schools or where kids could play - there is no discussion to hold it.

Speed Limits
by Abaddon ini had to drive about 600km (370 miles) to hamburg and back again yesterday on business.. for those of you that don't know, large parts of the german network of autobahns (freeways) have no speed limit.. of course, those who say german's don't have a sense of humour won't have though in detail about having a network of two-lane dual carriageways with no speed limit.
a very funny idea.. it was still a pretty good average speed (about 135km/h, 83mph) for the part of the journey in germany, and we , but as i got up to 220km/h (135mph) at various points and cruised over 160km/h (100mph) a lot, if they'd been a third lane it would have been a lot higher.
one side effect is once you are back down to normal highway speeds (120km/h) it feels like you're doing 50k/mh.

can't get over how good the new jet album get born is...there's a definate t-rex resurrection revival going on here....with a little ac/dc thrown in for good measure ..its awesome...some amazing acoustic guitar based guitar ballads too- a real ecclectic mix that hangs really well together..got to have the headphones on though as its got to be loud..now all i have to do is hope they get better before glastonbury.

Working in underground definetly IS more difficult! The stories i personally heard from eastern german witnesses always make me feel happy to have "served in freedom".

But why be happy? I think JWs will view it as their persecution because being no part of satans world.
They surely will continue in underground and maybe grow stronger like Malawi or similar events. And for the single JW life becomes more difficult.

New 'Asleep', uh, I mean, 'Awake' information on b-days....
by TallTexan ini was looking in one of the more recent copies of the awake and there is a question from the readers on pinatas.
i won't go into the whole thing, but in the response, at one point, the awake says that (paraphrase) "the bible puts birthdays in a bad light.
however (and i love that word, 'cuz it implies, 'well, we've changed our minds again') if a practice has no current false religious attachments, then it is up to each individual to decide what they will do".....that's not verbatim, but it's close enough.

Disfellowshipping
by Klaus Vollmer inhi folks, i have heard the latest news that in germany it is no more announced on the platform, when someone is disfellowshipped.. this fact in future will only be given privately to the brothers.. has anybody heard that too?
is that a typical german way because the seltersbrothers demand the status of a church to save taxes and get public subvention.. since 1990 they are keen to get this privlege but at present time they stay where they begun.. i remember when i studied with the witnesses some decades ago that an elder mentioned: we never would become church.
that is the key to concordates with the state, jehovahs witnesses would losse their clean status before god.. and now since the 90ies they change their doctrines in sbustituting military services and so on.. frere kelsey - vieux homme sans moustache, le duc des boissons du selters, pourquoi is est va comme ca?

Abraham's Sacrifice
by Aalena ini'm taking this philosophy class(oh no worldy wisdom) and the instructer mentioned how it always bothered him how abraham's god(yaweh or jehovah to us) had put him through the ordeal of even asking him to sacrifice his son.
i identified with this because it's something that always bothered me as well.
i know it was supposedly just a "test" but to me it doesn't seem like something jehovah would ever do when taking into consideration his characteristics outlined in the bible.

There is a part about true and false prophets in the bible. I found interesting what is said about a false prophet whos sign do occure:

If today someone would claim he heard a voice from heaven saying to kill his son we would say it was from demons.
