In germany there was a BOE in the early 90's regarding COC as this was mentioned in a JC. The elders should investigate the "brothers" and look for this book and also report about the reaction.

i wondered what the details of this were, have they actually named the book in any of their publications?
or spoken publicly against it?

Not an info on dino's but according to the JW timetable they could only lived something between 7000 and 21000 years ago as animals have been created in 5th and 6nd day of creation.
Maybe they didn't fit on the ark? (no joke, once they told, but i can't find it at the moment)

C.T. Russell Claimed Modern Inventions Were Harbingers of the Millennium
by Kenneson inthe april 15, 1915 zion's watch tower, page 126 has an interesting brief article entitled "the typewriter and progress" that is certainly worth perusing.. "amongst the great inventions of our day is the typewriter.
it came upon the market just forty years ago, in 1874, as a merchantable and usable convenience, after having been seven years in process of development.
the bible, we believe, marks the same year, 1874, as the beginning of the harvest of this age.

Welcome jgiordano!
There is no clear answer, you have to work out what's ok for your situation.
Most try to fade (more or less successful). Just drop a meeting here and there, slow down field service - become inactive.
Or just play their game (on a double standard) until you're able to leave.

seventh millennium
by RR inquick question.
charles taze russell taught and believed that the end of 6,000 years and the beginning of the 7th would commence in 1872.
later, the society under fred franz would change that to 1975, which resulted in the armageddon fiasco.

The WTS is still with the 7000 years per creative day (one point which made my way out) and it is only replaced by ambigous (seven) "thousands of years", but you are right that no JW is aware of it. This reasoning still applies to 1975 as the end of 6000 years after Adam's creation but has to be adjusted by the time until Eve's creation (29 years by now) to get the end of the 6th creative day. It is not mentioned anymore but neither is it replaced by new light.

by mineralogist in.
if i would write a letter to all members of my congregation stating "i had a jc and will be df'ed and this would be announced in near future" - would i get df'ed or would the wts consider this daing?

There was a JC - but we should meet again! So just to be faster than the elders and being able to inform JWs i came across this idea.

What Questions From Readers Doesn't Tell You
by metatron inthe sept. 1 watchtower has a question from readers concerning the 144,000. it asks how we know if the number 144,000. is a literal number.
it then quotes from a scholar, robert thomas, who wrote an exegetical commentary on revelation.. he says that , in revelation 7, the contrast of a definite number ( 144,000) with an indefinite number ( the "great crowd").
proves that the 144,000 is a literal number.. .

How about this quote:
Years ago I met a man in a campground in Alabama who said he was one of this number. He belonged to the movement called Jehovah?s Witnesses. Being one of the 144,000 placed him in a special category of the elite among the Jehovah?s Witnesses, he thought. Such an identification of this numbered group, of course, has nothing to do with the context of Revelation 7 and is therefore erroneous.

upcoming JC - info needed
by mineralogist inafter some months they finally "invited" us on a jc for - even if they didn't say - apostasy.
i once read somewhere of an official letter (boe or something) that the elders should let people fade if they want and don't cause any trouble.
as this is what we carefully tried i'd wish if someone could verify this policy and hopefully could dircet to the writing.. i think of participating the jc (they want to call with 4(!

Back from the meeting i must say it seems to be ok for now. Accusation is contact with DF'ed and spreading info within the congo (what we only did with real friends). I found out we can't fade in a quite way - there is already too much rumor (gossip?) about us. But this decision is ours and i'll try hard to get it. Besides it was a training in dialectics as neither clear questions nor clear answers where given from both sides (did they expect? I didn't).
I mentioned specifically that we won't return to this congo due to serious problems with all the elders which i gave some details for. "I'll wait on Jehova for this to be solved". So "works of repentance" must be something other than attending meetings there.
