I don't think it would necessarily rank as being the best on TV, but I think it's one of the cutest........I love the one for PetsMart with the little weiner dog and it's toy, BoBo, and the song in the background singing "My Best Friend". He plays so much with the toy that the owner has to throw it away. Then they take him to PetsMart (where the sales associate asks "where's BoBo?") and get a new one. The dog loves the toy so much that in order to scan the toy, they have to pick up the dog who doesn't let go of it's new BoBo. I just love that commercial!

Couple Bound In Home-Invasion Robbery
POSTED: 9:56 am EDT August 21, 2006 UPDATED: 8:54 pm EDT August 21, 2006
INDIANAPOLIS -- Police said an older couple were bound and robbed in their home on Saturday.
Edward Moore, 77, and Marjesia Moore, 65, were accosted by two men before 9:30 a.m. in their home in the 3900 block of Kenwood Avenue, according to police.
Marjesia Moore told police that she was asleep when she noticed a hallway light in the home was on. When she got up, Moore was confronted by two men, according to investigators.
Investigators said one of the men confronted Edward Moore at gunpoint when he went to see what the commotion was.
Police said one of the men took the couple to a bedroom as the other man ransacked the home looking for cash. The men found money, then took the couple to the home's basement and tied them with duct tape, investigators said.
"We were sitting quiet," Edward Moore told 6News' Derrik Thomas. "We told (one of the robbers) we were Jehovah's Witnesses and that we weren't going to bother anybody. All the money he could find he could have. Just don't hurt us."
The men got away with about $900 and a 2000 Buick LeSabre. The couple was found by an acquaintance who went to the home for Bible study.
Police said they found the car later that day.
Authorities said they believe the robbers entered the home through a basement window.
A description of the robbers was not immediately available.

Snakes on a Plane...for or against?
by jgnat ini admit it, i'm not cool.

I am terrified of snakes and told my daughter that I would NOT take her to this movie. BUT.......First she got me hooked on the soundtrack and conveniently recorded shows where Samuel L. Jackson was on to promote the show, etc. I heard good things about it on the internet and I do love Samuel L. Jackson........SO........I took her and her friend to see it yesterday and I was surprised that I actually liked the movie alot. It kept my attention, that's for sure, and it had adventure, horror, and comedy all in the same film. We all screamed and laughed.....and kept our feet up off of the floor! LOL

Public Reproof: What is it? Has it ever happend in your Hall or to you?
by jayhawk1 inwhat is public reproof?
does the watchtower corp still use it?
do they use a judicial committee for it?
-

I was privately reproved once. At first I felt very bad, but then it was more like a vacation from having to be sure I commented and I hated giving talks and speaking in front of an audience....plus you didn't have the public announcement and people wondering what you did. I enjoyed the lack of pressure and actually never wanted to be off the private reproof. :-)

Your writing really touched me. I can relate to the part of having the non-JW husband being so wonderful, as I have truly experienced that myself. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

ps....is it the Indiana State Fair you are going to? We always went there when I lived in Indy....it's a great fair....actually better than our Illinois State Fair. My favorite things: the food.....don't miss the grilled cheese sandwiches and the chocolate milk at the Dairy Barn....I know it sounds like something for kids, but they are really good!!

Ever wonder if an old friend turned apostate?
by beautifulisfree ini often wonder if my old witness friends from my past are still in the 'truth' (god i hope not)?
i know this site is pretty popular amongst ex-witnesses.
and since most of us have 'fake names'...we could be talking to someone that we already know.

I knew a few JW's who were considered weak when I left in 1988. I suspect that half of them have faded out of the Org. (my ex-wife included) They weren't too weak to remember to shun me though, at the time. I doubt any JW's from the Lutz,Fl , Danville , Watseca, Georgetown or Rossville,Illinois Congs. are posters here. But if so, Howdy.
Moshe,
You have a PM. IL Circuit 3 was my home circuit as I was growing up and I attended more than one of those congregations. Maybe we know each other????

Disaster Preparedness Announcement
by daniel-p intonight would have been my long meeting but i didn't attend.
however, my wife attended and she just came back and told me about an announcement they made in the form of a "letter to all congregations..." aparently they (wts) want everyone to be prepared for disasters and measures will be taken to make sure congregations and their members are prepared.
each member will provide their number, cell numbers, and numbers of close relatives.

In the past, I thought they were discouraged from keeping records to that degree on people...you know.....just in case the government turns against them.
I was wondering the exact same thing. I remember when I was a kid (about 10 or so) my dad told me that there will come a time when the police will come to get me and will torcher me so I will tell them where everyone lives. Now all of the sudden they want to compile a list. Won't that just give the expected gestapo police what they want?
You all beat me to it. I also remember how we used to have a congregation listing with names, addresses, and phone numbers. This was distributed to anyone in the congregation who wanted it. My dad (meaning, of course, ME) took care of updating it. Then after some meeting with the CO or something, this was suddenly wrong and we were to destroy all copies and not keep any kind of personal list of our own at home, in case of persecution. That way the authorities would not be able to track down the entire congregation and throw us all in prison (like in Nazi times), etc..... So, I wonder why no concern for that now? (I used to also update the listing of all the elders for each congregation in the circuit......wouldn't that be fun to have? )
