  i read the post about vine and was wondering if anyone has more information on hislop.

  my family always quoted his book two babylons in regard to the cross and other so called pagan origins.

  late this fall i started to research his book and found the inconsistencies with it.

  Euphe, My dad is in his 80's and still quotes things from way back when. My dad was the presiding overseer in the 60's. Went to Gilead and was taken under the wing of one of the "annointed". I'm just trying to use information that he is familiar with and something that might stir his mind. I had already found that site if you read my post. I'm looking for additional because Woodrow was closely connected to a specific christian site. pc

  I'm trying to find information in regard to disputing the book. A few months ago my dad showed me this book and said "even non Jehovah Witnesses know that the cross is from pagan worship". I said "who is this guy Hislop anyway, what are his credentials"? So I went on line and tried to find some info. I came across someone who said he was at one time a follower of Hislops beliefs and then found out he basically left out certain information to help his points. I was brand new to this so did not book mark it. I have since found this website and thought maybe someone could lead me in the right direction. Thanks pc

  [quick update: almost a year ago my mother had two strokes and a heart attack.

  needless to say, we haven?t stepped foot in a kingdom hell since then.

  some of the rank and file have been kind and supportive, so i have them over to the house once in awhile (i?m also doing it for selfish reasons since it gives me a break and i can get out)]

  I read the post about Vine and was wondering if anyone has more information on Hislop. My family always quoted his book Two Babylons in regard to the cross and other so called pagan origins. Late this fall I started to research his book and found the inconsistencies with it. I have found Ralph Woodrow and Dustin Segers who have written in regard to the book and stated it's slanted views. Anyone have other info for me? pc

  I thought a prerequiste for being a JW is cheating with someone else from the congregation. I was the only one of my family to marry a "worldly". All three of my brothers got married to JW's and all three got divorced. I have stayed married for twenty years. Some of the people I've known through the years are on their 3rd or 4th marriages to different witnesses. pc
