What's really scary/funny is, from our own past experiance we know they are capable of this. This Thread that began as a joke may turn out to be prophetic.

Are the Society planning a 'Pledge of Allegiance'? IT MAY BE TRUE!
by nicolaou ini've just learned from a trusted contact at thewatchtower.org 'norris', that the society intend to put a resolution to the congregations shortly - though definately not at the 'special talk' meeting next month.. here's the scary bit.
this resolution needs to be responded to by all baptized jehovah's witnesses.
we have not been able to get hold of the wording but have been informed it is intended to provide the brotherhood with the opportunity to affirm their loyalty to jehovah and his organization.

Things you find out when you go to a meeting...
by JH ini went to a meeting today.
i found it very long.
i talked to a brother that went to a meeting in the morning in his congregation, and decided to go to our meeting this afternoon also..... i talked to an elder who had a depression.

I talked to an elder who had a depression. (must be lack of faith)
The normal Elders that think they're doing the right thing and are not on a power trip, probably feel the weight of all the WTS bullcrap dumped on them much more than we did. I feel sorry for the good ones.

4-1-05 WT Galileo and Catholic Church: Lessons to be learned
by blondie ini won't go through the whole account of galileo; he believed what his eyes told him, not the church, and died under house arrest.. .
the wts has these comments:.
because galileo rejected an interpretation of scripture based on greek philosophy, he stood condemned!

Blondie you sure can pick em.
I won't go through the whole account of Galileo; he believed what his eyes told him, not the Church, and died under house arrest.
Do you see any parallels with how the WTS treats those that rightly question the Scriptural basis of their doctrines?
Blondie
Absolutely!! I'll bet the GB longs for the 'good old days' of the Dark Ages...and will bring them back if they can.

Well... I'm busted this time
by 24k ini think i may have just precipitated my exit from the watchtower a little sooner than i expected.
i was really looking forward to attending easter services at a local church today, and so made arrangements to ride with a friend of mine and his wife.
my friend is a recently disfellowshiped former fellow elder.

I gave you suggestions based on your concern for her happines and for the love you stated your had for her, "I love my wife more than anything..." After reading your 2nd post I can see you obviously don't love her more than anything. That's your choice.
Best wishes. ~ Flash
PS: This I didn't suggest " And let's not forget curtailing association with anyone not a JW."

Hello 24k and welcome!
I love my wife more than anything, and this constant anguish and uncertainty about the future is a crushing weight.
Since this is the case. I would 'Play the game.' Yes, they'll be a JC on this, so be repentent, take your lumps and be 'good boy' for awhile (for her sake) then fade again. And since your love for her is this deep...stay away from those who are DF'd and other religions. My opinion. I wish you well.

Comments You Will Not Hear at the 3-27-05 WT Study (complete article)
by blondie in"?1 corinthians 1:31 (new living translation)http://www.biblegateway.com/.
paragraph 16 (2 times)young people who have been raised as jehovah's witnesses do well to examine whether their christian identity is becoming stronger based on a personal relationship with god.
witnesses of jehovah or christians.

I don't think it's a coincidence that in this WT
they are finaly stressing their "Christianity."
After all Blondie, you hammer them regularly on it!
One thing Jesus did which I have yet to see
WTS do, is stress individual thought.
Jesus regularly asked people,
"What do you think...?"
Matthew 17:25, 18:12, 21:28, 22:42
He encouraged independant thought
and speculation. The WTS discourages it!

The New System...Waiting on Jehovah.... and Acceptance
by ScoobySnax ini was sitting in the garden having a beer with my dad this afternoon, it was a beautiful warm spring day, and we chatted away .......it's a good thing, my dad and me haven't always got on.
i think he thinks i'm not the son he held a 3 day party for when i was born, at least i didn't turn out like he'd hoped.
you see he's a mans man.

Flash
It made me think for them both, and about my understanding of things. I really hope that the New System will come and someone I love as much as my mum gets to see her dad again, I don't think I'll be there, but I think this is the hardest thing of all, standing on the periphery with a fence post up your arse if u like, but still hoping that people as good as my mum get to get all that they hope for. She wants her dad...
I believe it will and in our lifetime too. Life is full of choices Scoob. You know, if you choose to be there you can. If you choose not to be there, then someday in the New System your mother will be full of tears talking with her father about you...It's something to think about.
