Friendship gone, cause of questions...

well i wont go into huge detail, but i had a friend of mine that was 16 years older than me, really close friend and actually i considered him a brother.

i went to meetings and book studies with him for many many years and he wanted me to become a jw.

my family being christian was mad that i was attending meetings and learning their doctrine.

He isn't being Intelectually Honest with you or himself about his beliefs and I would point that out to him. Don't expect him to be your friend at this time, he has embraced the cult mentality of his religion and will shut you out because your honest questions threaten his erroneous beliefs.

Matt 22:23-30--no sex for resurrected ones?

the wts promotes the idea that in the "new system" members of the great crowd, who are not resurrected, will be able to marry and have children.. but what about those that are resurrected?.

does the wts apply matt 22:23-30 to people resurrected on earth?

(the passage is obviously applied to people who were pre-new covenant).

I remember when my JW wife told a Bethel elder to his face that she thought, "...the Society is wrong on this point." because the Lukan account states, "Neither can they die anymore for they are as the angels." (20:36) and to her, this was indicative of a heavenly ressurection.

I agree with her entirely!

Those ressurected to heaven will become like the angels, they will not marry or procreate. They are a "new creation" in that, it was not part of God's original plan to have humans 'live' in heaven.

my doctor says that i don't have myelodysplasia!

he says that he doesn't know what i have.

so, i guess that's good news!

So, I guess that's good news!

I would say that is good news too.

I don't know how exactly your suffering, have all the usual suspects like poor diet, sleep disorders (such as Apnea), allergies, depression and Lyme disease been ruled out?

i can't understand why the rank and file can't see who is really causing the pain by seperating loved ones over personal beliefs.. one woman says about her disfellowshipped brother, "this has been so hard for me to bear because in every other respect, he has been a wonderful brother to me.

i especially miss him at large gatherings.".

There are real problems with how broadly the WTS defines "leaving Jehovah." In the mind of the GB anyone who doesn't completely submit to themwithout questioning is not truely with Jehovah.

Disfellowshipping has its place, but how it is applied is the problem.

How many commands should we follow??

as a jw i was always taught "you must go on the ministry" ( taught as a "command" of jesus to be applied to everyone - or you wouldnt be doing gods will and therefore he could not be pleased with you ) and many other things, "do not forsake the gathering of yourselves together etc" as an example you must get to the meetings or you are inactive in gods eyes.

however after reading jesus words basically saying accept jesus as gods son and love your neighbour, i began wondering more and more whether the ministry is a necessity for many people.

i personally never minded the ministry except when i found i was spreading mans deception and lies.

despite his busy schedule, paul was always eager to do more in jehovah?s service.. notice how using an ot example leaves jesus out of the picture.. [picture on page 29] fear of god is a precious heritage that parents can pass on to their children.

When the GB does referance the NT it is usualy the burdonsome teachings of PAUL they are stressing, NOT the loving freeness Christ taught and gave to us to enjoy life as thinking individuals...which is completely possible within God's (not the WTS) law!

If we 'love our neighbor as ourself ' we let others be themselves, we don't try to enslave them through manipulation, demanding they become clones of ourselves!

The apostle Paul clearly discusses an Out-of-Body experiance (Astral Projection) of someone he knew. 2 Corinthians 12: 2 ~ 5

I'm not connecting this with Spiritism or Life After Death, as I am convinced by Paul's testimony and my own personal experiances from childhood on, that OBE's are a natural part of the human condition created by God.

They are not without risk however.

The Bethel downsizing letter

i was at the kh and the official discussion of the letter on the cover of the sept. kingdom ministry took place.

the instructions were to include a discussion of how the need for workers in the field was great.. basically, the letter says that due to technology, less bethelites are needed, so many are being sent out into the field, with many congregations in the united states receiving the benefits of these "mature" publishers.

yes, they actually said they were sending older ones packing from bethel.

Someone here at JWD was speculating the next big anouncement will be the start of Tithing to the WTS ...It wouldn't surprise me!!
