  C.O. visit; They sound desperate.

  my mother recently told me that the congregation was scolded by their district sales manager....errr circuit overseer for poor meeting attendance.

  it seems that at times attendance would sink as low as 60%.

  she didn't respond when i said that maybe there was something good on television that night.

  i would like to renew contact with my daughter that is now in paterson,ny living the life of a dedicated jw to the max.. .

  i would like to use the email as a communicating device.

  i understand that all jws are discouraged from conversing on the internet particularly to non-jws such as my wife and i. i know she has not been appraised of all the ins and outs of the jws and all she knows is what she is told, no more no less.i feel the oportunity will arise to start this communication but i will need some guidance through this ordeal.

  Question: To what degree do they go to discourage or outright prevent such communications... What on earth are these people afraid of?

  I just want to ask straight questions and get straight truthful answers.

  Any words of wisdom offered here?

  I have the same problem with my daughters. Mind you in the strict technical sense I am a Witness in 'good standing' yet because I am a 'thinking witness' and question and critisize our leadership I am shunned like the Devil. My point is your dealing with a severe cult mentality that conditions their members to equate obeying the men that lead their religion to obeying GOD HIMSELF. As soon as you are percieved as a threat to their faith your shut out. Sooo, go real slow and no deep stuff for awhile, plenty of small talk and even when you do, make or ask a deep or critical remark or question do it only occasionaly for awhile or they will retreat imeadiatly. Patients-Patients-Patients. If your going to succeed your going to have to view this as a long term project...In my desire to have open and honest communication with my daughters right away, I made things worse and we haven't spoken for years now. Go very slow. I wish you well.

  The more they beat the menservants and maidservants the more trouble they'll be in when the Master arrives. It also makes me think of the slave who burried his talent.

  Now my sister says that it doesn't matter that we had made huge sacrifices for Jehovah before all of this happened. Job changes, etc. She says that Jehovah allowed all this to happen to us because we didn't have the right motives or enough faith.

  That attitude is positively medieval! Talk about a FALSE Christian!

  A Pivotal Date: March 20

  i am just giggling myself inside out with the stupid antics regarding the march 20 release of the new org book.. of course, in great irony, only the apostates seem to know what's going on.. meanwhile in the congregations, a excitment tinged with mystery and suspense is tweaking the r&f.

  my entire book study was just about begging the conductor for any hint.. to emphasize the surprise, congregations that meet on saturday (march 19) are actually moving their public/wt meetings to sunday just for the event.

  just imagine the drool letdown when they find out the truth, that old br.

  Does this mean that they are doing away with judicial processes all together, and if someone is deemed to be going contrary to the April 1, 1986 WT directive that they will be considered as "no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses"?

  Approved association with Jehovah's Witnesses requires accepting the entire range of the true teachings of the Bible, including those Scriptural beliefs that are unique to Jehovah's Witnesses.

  Does that mean if you stop going to meetings, if you stop submitting Field Service? reports, they have the nod from Brooklyn to make this kind of announcement?

  I've been waiting for this day to arrive...If its not here now...it will be in the future!

  Being depressed is such a drag, it sucks the enjoyment of life right out of everything. What has helped me is doing what you did..talk about it. It helps relieve the weight and clears my mind some, also activity, for me it is exersize (which is a real effort when your depressed) even if I jump rope for a few minutes it gives my spirit a lift. On the other hand if I just hang around the house doing nothing or worse doing nothing and stuffing my face with cookies, then I'm really in trouble, the whole day, weekend or week will get flushed! I would definately force yourself to do something enjoyable whether at home or not. And I agree with you, don't read, watch or listen to anything dark and negitive. If you choose to stay home, watch a comedy or funny cartoons. Try to avoid people who are dealing with any drama because they're gonna share it with you.

  You did lift my spirits though, telling us about your trainee/friend reading your CoC book. She probably is a 'Godsent.'

  Thank you Bas. Too bad I didn't think of buying Euro's when they first came out. As for the Dinar, well, I would like them to increase sooner rather than later, but it may take 5-10 years for things to normalize over there. In the meantime I'll leave my dinars in my safe deposit box and go about my business.
