Brother Wolf, can we see you in the back room?
Spank - Spank - SPANK!
...then you thought wrong.
richard wolf, an elder in the north salt lake congregation of the jehovah's witnesses, enjoys an occasional visit to the strip.. wolf joins other salt lake valley religious leaders in saying it's possible to stay true to one's principles in sin city ?
and be prepared to be vigilant.. "i think they need to protect their spiritual life," said the rev.

Las VegasGambling can be good, clean fun if you keep your wits about you
This news piece shows that there are Witnesses and others who know that gambling in itself is not wrong, the 'love of money' is. One does not equate to the other, it depends on whats in the individuals own heart. It is a conscience matter.

My personal favorites.
Enter into that relationship prematurely How many of us know of JWs that get married when they are barely 18 because they can?t imagine going without sex another minute, or can?t wait to escape the control of their parents, or want to have a baby, or that if they wait too long, the last eligible brother will be snapped up?How many of us know of JW parents that push their children into early marriages thinking it will protect their children from being DF?d for fornication?
Do not take the time to get to know each other
How do they ever find time to get to know each other when someone has to be with them, chaperone them every second of they are together?
Jacob, work for his prospective father-in-law for seven years
Is the WTS suggesting 7 year long engagements or dating periods?
Based on love, not merely physical attraction
Right and the geeky brothers that I see with trophy wives were interested in their spiritual qualifications? But the wives were interested in their spiritual status in the congregation because women have none.
Thanks for another excellant review Blondie!
the post about crisis of conscience in which the poster said he knows there's some bad in the watchtower (as brought out in coc), but there's some good in it too got me to wondering about people that stay for the good in it.. the united states makes some decisions as a country that i don't agree with, perhaps even object strongly to.
but i don't disavow my citizenship.
it's mostly a good place to live, so i stay.. if you want to live in a way that utterly conflicts with the watchtower -- homosexual, multiple sex partners, smoking, whatever -- then you have reason to leave.
I would really like to understand how someone can learn about the Watchtower's lies, demonstrably false teachings, and hypocrisy but still remain a willing, active part of it.
Mislead - Confused - Trusting - Sincere
yeah i know it's a regular yearly thing.
but i wanted to make my post exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
well, it's that time of the year again.
I bumped into an old friend who invited me to it...I politely declined.
the latest awake has, on its final inside page, a section called "for family review" that consists of questions.
that witless families can ask their kids after they've read the magazine.
this new feature follows questions.
More than that, do the ivory tower enshrined fools who write this stuff never catch on that Witness kids quickly learn to parrot whatever answers are expected of them? that the organization's hypocrisy and pretense teach them to 'live a double life'? that more enforced studying is not the answer?
Since the people running the Organization believe they're 'Spirit Directed' nothing they do or change could ever be wrong or sub-standard.
now that we're in the 21st century, and all those pre-millenium worries that a few had about armaggedon seem to have gone, everyone seems to be getting on with their lives, buying homes, going on cruises and planning for their retirement.. not everyone does these things, but there is so little talk about the great tribulation, armaggedon and the new system, you can't help but wonder if they are just going through the motions.. i see young people at the hall - they couldn't care less about spiritual things, although they may comment and go out in service.. i see people in the 30s quietly getting on with life - a few are building their own homes from scratch, others are planning on moving and some have bought new cars.. nothing wrong with this, but each of these things show an investment in the future.
a car has to be paid for (if its a lease), a home needs a 15/25/30 year mortgage and this all takes time.. time with a capital "t".. let's face it - the urgency is gone.
no one thinks about the "time of the end" and everyone does their own thing.. families are still having children.. one of my college professors once asked me: "how do you know that people have confidence in the future?".
Your thoughts and observations are very encouraging to me because of two things Jesus said:
1. "You also, keep ready, because at an hour you do not think likely the Son of Man is coming." Luke 12:40
and
2. "For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark." Matthew 24:38
How they're acting makes perfect sense to me.
hi--i was wondering if anyone knew what the watchtower says about the superpowers destroying babylon the great?
i have been out for many years, and i know they used to teach that russia and the us were going to have the great war and then destroy all religions except the witnesses.
any takers?
King of the North?
IMO, The new King of the North is a China/Russia combination since they both are now close allies.
can you imagine suddenly never hearing from gumby, blondie, metatron or simon again?
think about never hearing from your favorite poster or online friend.
I've noticed people pop in and out...and in again. I know I'd miss a few if they weren't here.
i?m sitting here wondering what to make for dinner, and began to think of all of the great old family recipes that i will not be able to enjoy due to disfellowshipping.
i actually had one ?relative?
ask for the old fashioned "potato cake" recipe back.
My ex-wife used to make her potato salad with LOTS of bacon and PLENTY of bacon fat...Mmmmm. I don't miss her but I sure miss her cooking!
