The Witnesses have a serious Cult Mentality!
If you want to understand them you'll want to learn about cults too.
i think that the way jw treats women is absolutely terrible!!!!!
makes me want to confront them and give the powers that be a taste of the same medicine they dish out.
how can the be so cold and insensitive to treat another human being this way for any reason and try to justify with the words of the bible.

The Witnesses have a serious Cult Mentality!

there seems to be a common theme going on in the jw community.
at the first sign of a possible committment, every jw rushes you (with guilt) to show that you are serious.then, at the first sign of trouble everyone wants you to shoulder your responsibilities.finally, they damn/shun you if you can't handle things or choose/decide to quit.. i've seen this scenario played out with: interested couples rushed to engagement.dating couple rushed into marriage.bible studies & young persons rushed into baptism.any jw with 'free' time (meaning non-wt activities) rushed into pioneer service.young pioneer brothers rushed into bethel.. have you seen the same in your areas?
can you think of other scenarios?
Have you seen the same in your areas? Can you think of other scenarios? ...the jw community exerts strong influence in the personal lives of individuals, to the point that it is definitely un-christian.
Your examples are unfortunatly too correct.
The WTS would have the congregations all believe that Negitive Peer Pressure only comes from 'Worldly' peoplenever from fellow Witnesses!
ok so the bible is a work of the early roman church - if you could add any books to a new canon of 'scripture' what would you add - would you take anything out?
my starter for ten: .
i think i'd take out song of soloman.
I agree with you about removing the Song of Solomon, it's a love story, nothing more. Otherwise I'd leave the other 65 books as they are.
he created evil (lam.
3:38, jer.
26:3, 36:3, ezek.
And THIS is supposed to be a God worthy of worship?
I don't have the answers to all the seeming inconsistantcies recorded about God acting in way that we might label unloving. I do know, if we're honest with ourselves, we will admit we don't have all the information and details that suround these apparent less than ideal decisions. I do think that God has a wider range of freedom to operate than we tend to believe He has...and still remain 'in bounds' as far as being a God of love. As humans we believe there is often more than one right answer to a given problem/situation and so we might not agree with the one who makes the final desision. Could it not also be true with God? Also, doesn't He have a right to personal peferance in how He chooses to handle things? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for asking God, directly but respecfully, for answers concering those areas we disagree with Him on. I would ask though, that we also focus on ALL THE GOOD there is in life and in creation and not be to quick to condem God as evil or unworthy of our trust. For someone to believe so strongly that the ONLY way to correct and counteract the effects of the rebellion was to send His own Son to His death deserves our giving Him the benefit of the doubt and trusting Him...Jesus did. As for those things that really bother us, we can ask Him our questions now in prayer and also later, after Armageddon.
so this is the title of the chapter we'll be starting this week at bookstudy.
sounds promising eh?
well don't get excited.. here are some tidbits:.
1Corinthians 13: 7 applies to our relationship with God especialy concerning the struggle He is having with Satan and our part in it and not fellow humans.

many elders have been able to become a leader and still have the comforts of the world.. paragraph 18.
I think the thing that really got me about them was the UN NGO scandal . I bet they still have a gag order out over that one .
I was still an apollogist for the Society when this came out...It took awhile for the seriousness of this to sink into my head.

5 Slaves must obey their master. Are slaves never allowed to speak-up and voice their opinion...even if the effect of their Masters decisions on them are negitive??? What if individuals don't want to worship God as silent, unquestioning slaves??? Why make anyone slaves at all?!! Slaves to the Law of Love (as I believe God is), yes. Being a volunteer in God's service under His Son is good, but 'slaves,' no.
After teaching our children the best we can, when they reach adulthood, we 'let them go' and allow them to live and function away from us on their own. When they reach a certain age we let them have authority over themselves. We hope they will live within the laws of society, but maybe they won't.

Thanks for your time and effort on this Blondie.
anybody who is trying to get a loved one out of the jw, knows you have to be open to their religion.
otherwise you are an opposer and they won't talk to you.
but you also have to give a credible reason why you can't join "yet".
Another person here asked similar information. Maybe you'll get some ideas there too.
Please help me prove the wts wrong:

ok so i had this weird dream last night.
i dreamt that i was standing in line to gain admission to this strange cult.
they were passing out there own manufactured brand or q-tips and they required us to use only those q-tips.
Any physco analysts (sp) out there?
LOL, Not me, but I'll give you my best guess. Our dreams are often an effort of ours to work something out or reveal something...But not always! It might just be a nonsensical fantasy.
question-- if a jw is disfellowshipped for having too much association with a non-witness- is this jw likely to be refused a reinstatement as long as he is associating with her-- and if so- will he be allowed to talk to her again to some degree after he is reinstated?
sugarbritches
We never spent a night together- our only time together was at this community building where we sang. I still go there- although i don't have a band to sing with anymore- he isn't allowed to have a band anymore- again too much association with non- witnesses. Crazy isn't it. Thanks guys
Crazy is putting it mildly!! Unless you two had sex (of any kind) or he became a drunk or used drugs, THEY HAVE NO GROUNDS TO DISFELLOWSHIP HIM. He should appeal it and fight it.
