1 Corinthians 2:10-11 (LITV):"...For who among men knows the things of a man, except the spirit of a man within him?" Would anyone say that the spirit within us makes us 2 separate individuals??

Book study and not Bible study and trinity question
by Sacchiel inone of the things we are studying is how the bible is god's inspired and faithful word.
a paragraph mentioned how we should really study the bible with the aid of their book if we really appreciate the ransom.
at least nobody responded with such words, but instead we should study the bible.. i've got a question, in regards to the passage "but of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, neither the son, but the father only".

...we are studying is how the Bible is God's inspired and faithful word.
It is my opinion that the Bible 'contains' God's word but it is not in its entirety "the word of God." Its evident to me that men were inspired by degree during the writting, thoughts, feelings and opinions of other people beside God are clearly recorded in the bible.
"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, neither the Son, but the Father only". The WT books poses a question, if the trinity is real, why isn't the Holy Spirit mentioned?
This is about the only logical question the WT offers? Any ideas?
This is an example of where, I believe, their reasoning is correct. I believe their Primary Teachings are correct, but the rest of the dogma about their "organization" is deliberate manipulation for control.

The Dangers of Independent Thinking
by daystar in"the dangers of independent thinking".
reading mary's thread regarding the july 15th wt, i began to really consider what the wbts' problem is with "independent thinking".. what exactly is "independent thinking" and what about its opposite, "dependent thinking"?
i think the following excerpt from an article here does a good job of defining them.
-
Flash
It seems to me that true independant thinking in the Adam and Eve sense, is thinking that is apart from God. He being Creator of all things is also makes Him "the" determiner of Law/Limits/Standards/Systems. When we choose to live outside of His chosen parameters we become Lawless. To illustrate the deadly danger of lawlessness God has allowed the lawlessness of three individuals to grow relatively unchecked thru heaven and earth to become a near complete breakdown of orderly existence. Like cancer cells spreading though-out a body if left untreated the end result will be a complete system failure.
I think the fundamental problem is, we broadly generalize Independant Thinking into one negative catagory. We equate thinking independantly from God with Critical Thinking and thinking Independantly from others...which is not the case. One is healthy and good, one is not.

Hi, Flash, where ya been?
Hi Blondie!
I've been taking a 'mental health break.' Its both incredibly sad and shameful the constant and steady flow of 'walking wounded' the GB and their minions cause (Matt 9:36) ...But I'm glad your still fighting the good fight! When I do come by its to check out your WT Review.

What did you learn throughout the years as a JW?
by JH inwhat did you learn about the watchtower organization.
what did you learn about the jw's .
what did you learn about god in general and the kingdom to come?

1. What did you learn about the Watchtower Organization
2. What did you learn about the JW's
3. What did you learn about God in general and the Kingdom to come?
- It's very much like the Military, you follow orders and don't ask questions. They are harsh Task Masters. The GB tells people what to think not how to think, indepenant thinking and real expressions of our individuality are forbidden. They mis-use fear, guilt and self doubt to manipulate and control people. It is a gross abuse of our real and natural desire to please God and our concern for others. I've come to believe with their dream of Armageddeon passing in 1914 that since the death of Russell the Organization has been consistantly run by the Evil Slave down to this day and probably will be until the End. Matthew 24:48-51 and Luke 12: 45, 46
- Except for the Zealots, they are generaly good people, sincere, well meaning with good intentions. They are also confused and mislead by those leading the WTS and their appointees.
- God is not a trinity and has a name - Jehovah/Yahweh. Jesus is God's first creation. The Angelic rebellion is the source of all our troubles. The Great Tribulation and Armageddon are literal and coming. God will use the worlds governments to destroy world religion. The Thousand Year reign is real. The Resurrection (heavenly or earthly) is the only hope for the dead. The Little Flock will become a literal Heavenly Government. Satan and his Demons have a finite time to exist and will be terminated.

Paul ...encouraged fellow believers to become `imitators of him, even as he was of Christ.'-1 Corinthians 11:1.
Thus diverting their attention from following Christ to following him. The GB / WTS does the same thing. They are TRUE disciples of Paul. They convince people they would be more Christian focusing on their teachings rather than on Christ's and all the personal freedom He and His sacrifice gives. Paul being an over-zealous Pharisee was all about RULES.
So the elders "watch" the rank and file, the CO's watch the elders, the DO's watch the COs, and the GB watches these men. And who watches the GB?
The Master, Christ Jesus and He will without fail honor His word.
Matthew 24:48-51
48 "But if ever that evil slave should say in his heart, 'My master is delaying,' (missed Armageddon dates) 49 and should start to beat his fellow slaves (lording it over) and should eat and drink with the confirmed drunkards, (UN / NGO and other wrong behavior) 50 the master of that slave will come on a day that he does not expect and in an hour that he does not know, 51 and will punish him with the greatest severity and will assign him his part with the hypocrites. There is where [his] weeping and the gnashing of [his] teeth will be."
Luke 12: 45, 46
45 "But if ever that slave should say in his heart, 'My master delays coming,' and should start to beat (endlessly overbearing and intrusive) the menservants and the maidservants, (other sheep / great crowd) and to eat and drink and get drunk, 46 the master of that slave will come on a day that he is not expecting [him] and in an hour that he does not know, and he will punish him with the greatest severity and assign him a part with the unfaithful ones.
Blondie your detailed and well thought out WT Discections are an invaluable asset to everyone who wants to worship God and honor His Son correctly. May Jesus continue to help you and guide you.

Your absolutely right, it is a well orchestrated calculated strategy to remove any who will not submit totaly to the WTS. It has nothing to do with love or safeguarding the congregation.
Matthew 24
45 " Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time? 46 Happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so.
'IF' is the point not to be minimized. The consequences are real and sure to follow if the master's desires for His congregation are not being met.
Matthew 24: 43-51 and Luke 12: 42-48

Where are the Great Crowd in Rev. 7:15? Every JWs should read this.
by Desino inevery jehovah's witness should know this.
i believe it is the current understanding of wts that the great crowd is rendering sacred service on earth after the great tribulation.

Its clear to me that if God wanted Humanity in Heaven we would have started out there. God created the Earth for us and us for the Earth. The small amount of people that are chosen to live in Heaven are a "New Creation" because it was never God's plan for us to live there.

Need your opinion on JW teaching
by DevonMcBride innext week i'm going to speak with a large group of people about the jehovah's witnesses and one or two of their teachings.
i don't have time to discuss all of their bizarre beliefs so i'd like to ask your opinions on which subjects to use.
what would you consider to be the one most outrageous teachings of the watchtower you would chose?
-
Flash
It would have to be the teaching that: "The Faithful Discreet Slave should be listened too and obeyed in everything as you would God Himself."
I think this is the most crippling teaching to emerge from the faith. It is a deliberate manipulation for control of the individual that is woven deeply into the thoughts and emotions of every member and carefully connected to every other teaching.

I worship Jehovah away from His people as a Christian NOT as a Paulite. The Old Testament is not my primary guide.
Pauls writtings are to be greatly scrutinized to separate his opinions from Christ's instruction, Matt. 24:15b. Jesus wants us to use our minds and think criticaly and not to have to be spoon fed everything, Matt. 16: 11.
1Kings 19: 14 and 18 pretty well sums up my feelings toward God's people today.
