Wow, these stories are horrific. :( I am glad I have nothing that awful to offer. Only thing they've done to us is shun my husband when he is with me (damn wordly girls, ruin those good little dubs) even though he is not DF/DA'ed. I thought that was pretty nasty.

Mean things that Elders have done
by galaxy7 init was during the drought when alberta and sask were in bad shape for hay.my husband was promised 100 bales (this was before the drought).when my husband was ready for the hay the elder said he couldnt have any ,in the field there were trucks picking up hay which he sold for double the price.so here we were with no promised hay to feed 32 horses.does anyone else have a story?

Aren't Dub boards better left alone?
by PopeOfEruke inwe all agree that the internet will free thousands of good-hearted people from the clutches of the watchtower.. i think the more jw discussion boards there are, the more jw's will get on the internet initially to use the boards then hopefully they will branch out and maybe the god of google will view them favourably and help them in their eye-opening.. so i think its a bit sad that witness world has closed its doors.
i don't think its a good idea to infiltrate the jw sites if it means the administrators end up closing the site.. agree/disagree anyone???
at least be thankful you get the chance to post on a question which hasn't been asked by bloody minimus!!

Another quick thought -- Do you think WW's collapse had anything to do with their somewhat public and nasty war with PLN?

I agree with the points Euphemism made in a post a few days ago... ("5 tips..") Yes, I did infiltrate a board, but I did not do so with the intention of making anyone "see the light" or even upsetting their world. Actually, I was just curious and wanted to "listen" to Witnesses other than the few I know in the "real world". I did wind up posting on a controversial post, which I regret a little - but I don't think I did anything to hurt anyone.
As for more boards online, if I were a Witness, I don't think I would approve of them. Does it make people explore more? Maybe in a few cases, but the dubs I know are online (although not in any Witness boards) and never explore things like that. They use it for entertainment and job hunting and things like that. For the most part, I don't think having Witness boards would do a whole lot of good either way... if that makes sense.
I'm exhausted, so I'm sorry if this makes little sense. I must get sleeeeeeep...

Dude! drwtsn32, I think you should take some hard-earned credit! I'll take a tiny bit, too. Might not have had much to do with us... but I bet it did.
Wow... looks like I got kicked out just in time.

I like the olders ones too. Trampoline time always catches both mine and my husband's eyes!
How about Most X-Treme Elimination Challenge, or whatever it's called? That rocks!!

Thread for Active, Still Believing Jehovah's Witnesses
by Nosferatu ini've created this thread for all you active witnesses who still believe that you've found the "truth".
i've felt kinda sorry for all of you, so here's a thread for you to discuss field service, your bible studies, the good article you just read, and all that other crap most of us don't care about.

What about birthdays do JWs forbid?
by imzadi insome recent threads on christmas celebrations got me to thinking about birthdays.
do jws forbid any aknowlegement of birthdays at all, or just the trappings of birthdays, such as cake, gifts and singing happy birthday?
what specifically is forbidden and what is ok?

Yes, wedding showers are allowed... I just don't see why - since they are - baby showers wouldn't be. At least they have some sort of reason for birthdays, although I think personally Witnesses recognize and internally celebrate their b-days. I know a Witness who, despite being compliant with the faith, got really excited on each birthday and watched the clock for the "exact time" she was born. No cake, but certainly recognition.
anyway...

grand baby
by kat2u ini have had a new grand baby born this last week and have been told that i will only be allowed to have a relationship with my granddaughter if i am in good standing with jehovah{elders}.this is my only grandchild since this same daughter when not a jw had a little boy who passed away .i was the one to be there holding her hand then.and now im not allowed!
i am so hurt and angry.. then my mother has now decided that she will not allow me at my parents 50th wedding anniversary.my dad is not a witness.i am being closed out.i want to lash out at the elders and my mother.she has been a great influence on my daughter and her new husband.. i want to write her a letter, but i think no matter what i write she will feel "just" in her "persecution".

I'm so sorry to hear that. I agree that writing a letter might be helpful, if just for your own sake... I think there are also cases in which grandparents have been given some rights in some states -- do a search on this board and you might find some helpful posts. Best of luck to you.

All organized Religion is Evil
by SpunkyChick inmy mom was telling me about this new family that moved in next door.
they have a bunch of kids and one, my sister's age.
they are devout catholics and forbid their children to watch any disney movies; as disney has made fun of the pope (i've never heard of this).

Amen.
I had a classmate in high school who belonged to a non-denominational church, which usually is a bit less retrictive. Not hers, though. She wasn't allowed to listen to any secular music. That meant if a teacher permitted the class to have the radio on during a study hall or something, she had to leave the room and work elsewhere. I thought that was a bit extreme.

Is there a website where current articles of WT/Awake! are posted?
by somebodylovesme in... i know that some here very generously post the most recent articles (e.g.
"comments you will not here..." which is a great post).
i was wondering if there is an archive anywhere online?

Thanks all. Are there any "apostates" (bwahaha) who have posted them? I know Blondie does the weekly post... I guess I was wondering if that sort of material is available anywhere else.
