We still had cold food when I was young I think. I remember the tapioca pudding cups and the most. I always asked mom for "that pudding the have at the assemblies". Then they announced everyone would have to bring their own lunch. I missed the pudding for a while but I got lunchbox snackables instead =P Our hall still had a place for where they used to store the food complete with counters to serve it don't think they ever used it for everything else.

Faithful slave?
by Kosonen inwe have allways heard someones calling them selves "discreet and faithfull slave"?
they say that jesus came in 1918 and approved them as discreet and faithful.
many of those were not yet born then, so could jesus have approved them before their birth?

Welcome to the boards. I think you will find a lot of viewpoints that may cause you to reflect on what the JWs have told you and whether or not they truly are god's people. Do not be stumbled when JWs ask "who will you go away to if you leave". You do not need to have an answer for that. When you establish they are not god's true people you have a duty to separate yourself from their falsehoods even if you do not know of someone with absolute truth at that time. Continue the reading and the soul searching. Best wishes.

In laws ruin visit again!!!
by 4mylove inso we invite the son that they never get to see, who is as inactive as my hubby.
the only conversation mil could bring up is that a friend of his is in town and with the same wife, but she is doing much better.
i asked if she had been ill or something to which i got, "no it's just that she used to dress so sexy, and well you know that she just couldn't or shouldn't do that being a witness.".

Well it sounds like you handled her at least. I'm sorry you had a frustrating encounter but I'm afraid a lot of JWs won't get much better even over time.

John 17:3 - Redux
by Farkel injohn 17:3 - redux.
when you've been an active demonized apostate for as long as i have, you would have to conclude that outside of "new light" and current events in dubland, everything that could be written about the follies of the wts has already been written and discussed many times.. yet there are many new ex-dubs who haven't had the time to find this out.
i see it in here all the time.

Interesting. I usually avoid the scripture threads but this was a new one for me. What an insidious spin they put on everything.

when the WTS loans money..
by seeking help inwhen the wts makes loans to the congs.
what is the interest rate?
and why do they charge it.

Ah but they will say that was the mosaic law which passed with jesus. Althought they still trot out the old law covenant when they denounce gays. And if they don't call it interest but rather inflation they are not really charging in the minds of some.
I always found all the money mumbo jumbo to be very confusing when I was a witness.

"It has long come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sit back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things" ~ Leonardo Da Vinci
To get things done we need to take action. Things rarely happen on their own. Taking action can be difficult sometimes. It is easy to get on the road of someday and end up in the town of nowhere. So here are some actions we can take to develop the behavior to make taking action our daily habits.
1) Bring your mind to the present moment. This will help you snap out of over thinking, then just DO IT NOW, DO IT RIGHT, DO IT ALL! On whatever has to be done.
2) Be accountable to yourself. A consistent and healthy way to develop the habit of taking action is to answer to yourself. Set your own high standards and principles for how you will behave.
3) Lighten up. When we are too serious about our challenges it's hard to get started. On the other hand onece we relax and lighten up we realize we are creating a lot of resistance in our own mind.
4) To do lists -limit this to the absolute most important to get done today. Only 2-3 items. When we see we can finish what we start, it's easy to get moving.
5) Get enthusiasm - this is our choice. We can hang our head in defeat before we start or lift up our chins and go for it!
6) Start small - getting sttarted on a huge task can be over whelming. So start with a routine like cleaning your desk, start to move your body then you start to bring yourself into state to take action.
7) Readers are leaders - to inspire ourselves to take action we need to read powerful and inspirational sayings and quotes. -

The best things in life always take effort, commitment, and discipline (E.C.D). We always have a choice! You and I can take the simple easiest quickest route to have instant gratification or E.C.D. The price of ECD is always less than the price of regret.
Our choice to start the day with a positive mental attitude sets us up for success. Being responsible for self-control we choose our thoughts of being totally responsible for our own feeligns and actions. When we realie that we control our life and that it is just our perception of the circumstance, we have happier more fulfilled lives of joy, creativity and optimism.
NOW is the time to choose.
Choices of Champions:
Action over procrastination
Eager over lazy
Positive mental attitude over negative
Courage over fearful
Focus over scattered
Good manners over rudeness
I can over I can't
Cheerful over sad
Impeccable character
Enthusiasm over limp life
Punctual over late
Responsible over blame
Love over hate
Faith over fear
Passion over non-committed
Observation over judgment
Honesty over lying
Good over evilWhat choices in leaving the JWs have you made?
To have courage rather than be fearful of armageddon? To say "I can" to all the things you used to say "I can't to? To have faith rather than fear of god's vengeance. -

It would be frowned upon for a JW to say karma will get you just like they don't like it if you say good luck or bless you when someone sneezes. Nothing really serious would happen though.
