I guess I helped get my cousin out. He just loved me and couldnt understand why the JWs would preach such hatred of gays. I never pressured him to decide if they were a cult or not, just wanted him to go with the natural flow and enjoy his life.

For JW Apologists - What is Your Motive for Posting on JWD ?
by flipper ini was just curious about this - as i've noticed that when some on the board are trying to be helpful or assist some who have faded or exited the jehovah's witnesses to deal with their circumstances - whether it's dealing with believing mates, relatives, or in making an independent stand for their freedom - at times people will come on the board sticking up for the cult mind control ways of the jws and attempt to hinder some of us from assisting a person to attain freedom from the witness cult .
i guess my question is - what would make a person come join an obvious anti-witness discussion board to come and communicate positive vibes about the witnesses ?
correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't there jehovah's witnesses websites people can post on to find and enjoy those of like mind and faith.

I think a lot of them are trying to deceive themeselves into believing the propoganda. If someone else verifies it it makes it more believable to them so they try to convince others.

Looking for recent thread about "No personal study groups."
by Confession inat least one contributor posted about this.
i believe he/she related how the part on the service meeting was covered, but if you know the specific quotes that would be great.

Of course they discourage personal study groups, someone might realize the BS they teach. Plus I think this was a backlash against Ray Franz and how he and friends met to study the bible after he was DF'd was it not?

Integrative technology excites me. Particularly crossovers between video game consoles and pc/internet usages. However I think some things like iphones are a bit over rated and over priced.

Judge Rutherford's Air Conditioning at Bethel
by VM44 ini recall reading long ago (so long ago i don't recall where) that someone asked judge rutherford why his office at bethel, brooklyn had an air conditioning unit while the workers in the printing factory below had to work in the heat.. rutherford's answer was that the air conditioning unit was a gift!.
does anyone also recall reading this?.
wouldn't rutherford feel a little guilty about enjoying cool air while the people downstairs were working all day under hot and humid conditions?.

more on rejection from JW family
by Hortensia ini was the first in my family to get out of the org., by a good ten years or more.
in fact my youngest sister has been out only for a couple of years.
while they never shunned me, they did draw back and our relationship became more distant.

It takes effort to have and maintain relationships. The fact that you got out of the habit of having a good relationship just means you need to work harder to get it back, it isn't automatic.

No I don't think we ever will be. From everything I have read and experienced childhood has such a great impact on the rest of you life and the personality implications. That is not to say life has to be grim and bleak but it can never be the same from how it has been changed. As for overcoming rejection sure. Find new people to be dear, find new family. They say blood is thicker than water but I dont think blood has to be through birth. Family is who you make it to be.
As for normal family it is my estimation that there is no normal family and that worldly families are just as messed up as JW ones though in different ways. How to overcome? Be yourself. Do it now, do it right, do it all. You don't have to ever forgive them just realize that now you make your own choices and if you choose to have a negative attitude then that is very regretable. There wasnt a choice for you before but there is now and you must make it for the better. It may take effort, committment and discipline to make your life what you want it but that is ultimately going to be less than the price of regret.
Stop trying to get over it. Make the best of it instead. You can still be angr and get on with your life imo.

I like my tattoos. Both of them are easily hideable on my back. The first one says "numb" after the linkin park song (I'm tired of being who you want me to be: look up the lyrics) and the other one is a greek psi to commemorate my honors psych degree. I'm sure my mom would freak and dad wouldn't be cool with it but they mean a lot to me and "body mods" have been around for a long time in many tribal cultures. Hell if you want a fad tattoo (ankle butterflies, kanji, barbed wire) I'm not going to stop you but my tattoos have a lot of significance and years of planning in very employable placements. And honestly getting them "re-inked" after a couple years..just take care of them. Put on sunscreen, dont expose them to the sun a lot if possible and most artists guarantee lifetime touchups of the ink. I had one touched up no charge over a bit of scar tissue that didnt hold the ink as well and it looks great. When I'm old and wrinkly I am not going to regret my life, as the body changes and the ink changes with it. you wouldnt tell an old person their wrinkles make the skin they have had since they were younger "look bad" so why would you say wrinkles make their ink look bad?
