  interview with a watchtower society author on wednesday, 27 august 1997, i met with harry peloyan for about 1 1/2 hours in the lobby of the 25 columbia heights bethel office in brooklyn, new york.

  my purpose was to discuss problems with the creation book with him, since he is its main author.

  I don't think he meant it as a slight but rather as a reflection on how the organization has kept them sheltered from so much of the goings on.

  i would like a simple step by step explanation that refutes the disfellowshipping policy as practiced by jehovah's witnesses.. obviously, i don't agree with the policy but i have had trouble making my explanations clear and straightforward.. any help would be appreciated..

  Jehovah Witness confusing doctrine about abstaining from blood

  why do jehovah witnesses say they abstain from using blood when they are now allowing their members to use certain blood fractions.

  the answer i always get "if their concious allows them its ok it not for us to judge".

  if that is the case, whole blood should also be allowed if their concious allows them to.

  It's just so weird to see something that was so important when I was a kid fading away so easily. I wonder how many will even bother to cling to it. One of the first scriptures I was required to memorize was about abstaining from blood. My mom said the judge would take me away from her and I would have to answer for myself.

  the speaker first starts with what he called the "alphabet soup" of degrees....a.a., b.a., m.a., ph.d., etc.

  I don't think AlanF was meaning to belittle the man or his life timetochange. Sure my life as a JW would not stand up to scrunity but it was people like Alan that made me realize I wanted no part of it. I think you misread his intentions with this interview.

  I've been studying with JW's for a few months..

  i've been studying with the jw's for a few months and i've attended a few meetings but things are feeling somewhat strange...i don't quite get the jist of things but i feel that i'm learning more of what the watchtower teachers and less of what the bible actually says.. i never open my bible.. i'm always reading the watchtower pamphlets.

  i really like the people i've met in the congregation and the guy thats been doing the studies with me has been an awesome friend.. .

  but i'm just having some issues.. i mean.. they translated their own bible to suit their own doctrines it seems.

  Why does there have to be spiritual guidance out there? Because humans have been searching for it? We searched for the philosopher's stone that would transmute lead to gold as well as the fountain of youth and we found neither. Just because you do not find something outside the witnesses that satisfies your quest doesn't de facto mean they are right either. Just something to chew on.

  I always thought a lot of their philosophy over how life was going to be like in paradise was very communist. My mother always said it would be brother so and so growing tomatoes to trade for sister such and such's carrots, etc.
