  just wanted to share with you the results of our monthly get together here in vancouver, b.c.

  five of us showed up which was down from last month, but the reasons for those unable to make it today were family responsibilities and such, so the desire to meet is still strong.

  we had a great time yakking and laughing and just generally having a marvelous time.

  Hi RB, Thanks to you and Panda for those kind words, but sometimes I just shoot my mouth off before I've actually got the chamber fully loaded. It used to get me into trouble at the KH too. Hopefully you folks in TO have a great apostafest. Keep us all informed because other groups may glean ideas for their own get togethers; and Panda as for the efforts you're making, keep plugging away. It seems hard at first, but eventually your Meetups will be up and running. In reference to those who are worried about being "discovered", I can share their concerns, It doesn't matter to me now who knows, but there was a time when I felt the same way and I think all we can do is continue offering support and help to any who want to get together. Maybe try meeting in private homes at first, this way possibly weeding out any moles.

  Thanks for the encouragement and support. Honestly, sometimes on this board I feel like Claude Raines. Not that I'm looking for any recognition or anything, but sometimes when a person posts here, I've noticed that unless they happen to be in the clique that can be this board, they hardly if ever get replies to their posts. It's nice to get the occasional response especially when that person is trying to encourage others in their particular area. So thanks again for your response.

  Mouthy, I wish I could be of assistance but I'm not really up to snuff re the Meetups elsewhere. Not yet anyway, but as we get going out here on the West Coast, maybe just maybe our little gang can help you and vice versa.

  Just wanted to share with you the results of our monthly get together here in Vancouver, B.C. Five of us showed up which was down from last month, but the reasons for those unable to make it today were family responsibilities and such, so the desire to meet is still strong. We had a great time yakking and laughing and just generally having a marvelous time. Mrs. alfie and I met a couple of new folks and I renewed acquaintances with a chap whom I hadn't seen in years. It was great not to worry about what we could or couldn't say.   What To Be For Halloween?

  Hi there all,

  Man, I love halloween. Our grandkids have a hoot and LOVE the candy. Last year I dressed in a long black coat, black pants, black boots, a large black stetson, and a great, long, black beard, and I just stood motionless in the front yard of our daughter's house and as the kids came up the drive, I'd moan and growl and ask them what they wanted at my house. Well, if I'd had a video recorder running, I could have entered the results in the AFHV show. The shrieks and screams were fantastic, but when the kids settled down, the laughs and giggles were priceless. I think I had more fun than the kids. This year I'm planning on something a little different that will hopefully be as much fun. I'm getting so excited.

  as he is locking him up, he asks "why in the world are you dressed like this?

  How far does the shunning go for you, by your JW parents or children?

  my dad is a jw, trying to reach out to be an elder again......also pioneering.

  i saw my cousin , his nephew , the other nite at the dance club......i told him i havent seen my dad, nor heard from him in almost 2 years.

  he said he saw him a while back but that he heard he moved.. last time i talked to my dad, it was over me not going to the circuit assembly he was trying to get me to go to.

  Ah yes, family shunning, How appropriate for a "Christian" group. Mrs. alfie's son hasn't spoken to her or myself in over two years. The last communication we had was at his wedding and then only my wife was invited. I only went because she refused to attend if I wasn't allowed to go. After that, Mrs.a called her son once and was told by him that neither she nor I were to call as we had nothing in common with him or his, notwithstanding the fact that he was borne by her for nine months then raised singlehandedly by his mom, who also supported him no matter what when he wanted nothing to do with the WBTS. I find it fascinating because neither Mrs.a nor myself are df'd, we're "inactive" and often chat with witnesses we know, several elders included. We don't have close association anymore, however it is only the son who has taken it upon himself to decide that we're not worthy of civil treatment. I personally have no problem with that, but I know my wife is quite hurt. CIAO4NIAO!! alfie

As a matter of fact, happysunshine was speaking of a Vancouver get-together earlier this year, but we have so far, heard nothing further on this gathering.   during the program, the preacher announces to the viewers, that if they needed to be healed, simply place one hand on the television set and the other hand on the ailing part of their body.

  grandma got up and slowly hobbled to the television set, placed her right-hand on the tv set and her left hand on her arthritic shoulder, that was causing her to have great pain.

  Crying was something that always tugged at me and so I had to really learn how to be completely objective. There were those who could turn tears on and off like a faucet. One could usually figure those people out, but the difficulty lay in trying to differentiate between tears of repentance and those that came because a person was caught doing something wrong.

  Mygawd, listen to me. I sound just like the WT, but not to worry, none of that for me EVER again.

  Burial or Cremation?

  i got the idea for this thread from one jessika posted and which contained a response from dede.. which form of final resting place do you prefer and why?

  personally, i want to be cremated and have my ashes scattered at a particular place on the beach on deserted st. catherine's island, a barrier island on the georgia coast.

  my children could get there by boat (the only way) and visit my spirit there - even though i know my spirit won't be there, i believe that somehow i will know they're there and what they're saying.. being buried in a box six feet under to lie in the same position througout all eternity doesn't appeal to me in the least.

  I don't want to be buried that's for sure. I can think of a whole lot of ways to make use of a burial plot and wasting the space on some dead guy isn't one of them. Other than that, I really don't care what happens to my body. When I'm dead, I'm dead, kaput, finito, blooey, ah you get the picture. Just don't waste any good resources on my death and disposal of what's left. I even have an autodisposal plan in place should I become terminally ill.
