NO ONE CAN COME TO THE FUNERAL!!!!
by chuckyy injust an update on my previous thread.as you know, my mother in law who is a jw, asked me to conduct the funeral for my father in law.i am disassociated.
apparently, the elders wrote to the society and had a meeting today.
the outcome is that noone is allowed to come to the funeral, not even close friends of my mother in law from the hall.

My condolences to you and your mother for your loss. I would do what some of the others suggested and get the word out to as many people in the community on how your mother is being treated by this cult.

Do some WT phrases make you squirm?
by jeanniebeanz infor me it's "the doors of the ark are closing.
i can never forget as a child, being forced to see the graphic images in the publications showing families, mothers with little babies clinging to a rock and others drowning as the ark floats away.
fathers shaking their fists at god for destroying their families... it's like some of the little mind control still functioning in there somewhere causing a kneejerk reaction of uneasiness.... are there any others that bug you?.

Anybody else remember the "in the original greek" guy? I have been racking my brain all night trying to remember his name. I remember him from the Newhall, Valencia, Canyon Country area from the late 80's (I think they incorporated into one city called Santa Clarita) in the Southern Cali area.

Not to actual JW's as I have no contact with any. My parents stopped preaching to me long ago, so on the rare occasion we have contact religion is not discussed. On the other hand I let everybody else I know how much of a destructive cult the JW religion is.
My choice of career garuantees that I will not have any incedental contact with JW's.

What's in your library?
by the_classicist inwhats in your personal bible or religious library?
let's see what i have... cambridge kjv (really nice, calfskin leather), cambridge reb (really nice, not as good as kjv though), 50 year old douay rheims (with annoying jw notes and written-in textual changes inside, courtesy jw great-grandmother), rsv-ce (imitation leather, looks extremely cheap), nab (imitation leather, looks better but sucky confraternity notes in it).
that's my bible collection (i got rid of the nwt).

Watched by god VS. Watched by Cameras
by Elsewhere ingrowing up i never *really* believed in "god" and i assumed that everyone else was the same.
i thought people just pretended to believe because it was just expected of them.
for me going to a religious meeting was like going to the movies... while there everyone "believed" what was going on but when "the lights went up" and everyone left, they all knew that it was all just pretend.

The only thing I do different on camera is I "might" scratch my ass a little less.....lol.
I think the opening post you made was hard to elaborate on because you made your point so well.
