So sorry for your loss.
the cancer finally got to her and now my sisters and i are left without our mother.
we take comfort only in knowing that she is no longer in pain.
how do people move on from such a massive loss?.

So sorry for your loss.
it's one hour into june 25th here in new zealand .
and two years since the death of michael jackson.. we all know of his family life and the connection the family had to the jehovah's witness religion, his abusive father, and the less than ideal childhood he experienced.
his struggles with his identity and his past manifested itself in a life of extreme highs and lows.
Peace, Michael.

the standard of what is true is what is real.. truth=reality.
at the point of contradiction.. with what?
it would be unthinkable for reality to contradict itself.. .
Now we know why the Watchtower Society clings so desperately to the date NINETEEN FOURTEEN!!
The EVENT of WWI was a REAL event.
I've suspected this coinciding of events has given much weight to the 1914 doctrine. And the WTS uses this to their advantage.

Simon,
Looking back through the history of this board with all its natural peaks and valleys remains the essence of this consistency: This platorm you created over 10 years ago to share with others has been a useful tool for sharing information, experiences, and connecting in our common JW language to help us each process, heal, and grow from our JW journey in whatever form we need to.
Remember that construction project of Nimrod's that got interrupted waaaay back when...? ;)
Thank you,

i will, in this post attempt to filter my thoughts thru the prism of political correctness and thereby cause no offense to anybody.
if i fail, i ask that the "jury disregard those comments" ( laughable if a judge says it because it underlines what was said).. since the watchtower allows nothing but ( a veneer) of male domination, it faces a bleak future because of the decline of masculinity in general society.
they abhor the idea of any 'sunday school' or more and so are not training young men to be fathers, husbands or just men generally.. i once went to a 'get together' - so called because the term 'party' might create offense - and noticed young brothers together with (hot) young sisters..................................................discussing shoes !!!!.
there were always SO MANY sisters in the bathroom chatting and talking and enjoying themselves.
It was those little, off-program things that made it all tolerable for us sistas.

well just what is samadhi?.

Thank you, Poppers.
about a year ago i saw this movie for the first time.. and while watching it, most of the points showing how controlling the jw's are did not really stick out to me, (shunning, emotional abuse, etc.).
but last night i was bored and watched it again, and wow was it amazing to me how strange this religion can be.. i find it somewhat amusing how long the wt mentality can remain in the subconscience unnoticed.. for example at the end when sarah attends the funeral of her good friend who died because of the no blood policy, her father walks up.
and tells her that she is selfish for attending.
I saw it a couple years ago with English subtitles. Good story, one that I identified for the heartwrenching relationship with an unbeliever. It really captured the emotional and spiritual challenge of trying to live two lives, one devoted to an ideal that's wrapped up in life and death and your standing with God (real or not), and the other following the yearnings of your heart and all its desire.
There's so much at stake when you leave all you've ever known with its attached family and social structure, where all of who you are is judged good or bad. Good movie.

lets face it, we don't know what humans are.
science is doing a good job at uncovering many facts about us, but even science cannot explain consciousness yet.
conciousness is still a strong mystery to us.
Do you yearn to know what we are, and why we are here, before you die?
Yeah.

did your parents, spouse or siblings get all in a tizzy about what they were going to wear a couple of weeks or months before the district convention?.
my ex is a pretty good seamstress (it's in the dna she inherited from her dad, a famous tailor from europe who made suits for celebs like s.stallone, c. eastwood, etc.
) and she would get all excited about what she and my teenaged daughter would be making and wearing to the convention.. .
Did your parents, spouse or siblings get all in a tizzy about what they were going to wear a couple of weeks or months before the District Convention?
Not a tizzy, but a moderate excitement. Buying a new outfit for the memorial or an assembly was an occasional special splurge in my family, that in retrospect, I'm grateful for since there's not much else JWs can get excited about or celebrate while Waiting for the End to Comeā¢. Gotta take the good when it comes.
