  HOW ABOUT MENTIONING JESUS AT THE MEMORIAL!

  well i went last night...........did anyone else notice how the talk focused almost exclusively on the 144,000???

  jesus was barely mentioned.

  the first couple of minutes talked about when the israelites left egypt and the passover was instituted.

  Your observations mirror mine as well. On the way home in the car I was expressing the exact same thing. One would expect there would be more context about Jesus and the events surrounding the meal and the point of it all. I'm of the mind to think that people in general will gain a better appreciation of Jesus' life and sacrifice by watching the Passion movie.

  This is the first year I've gone in about a half dozen or so. I intended to go as a real observer the occasion, feeling emotionally detatched and objective. While listening to the talk, I imagined myself as a first time attender off the streets. What would they take away from this? I wouldn't be surprised if many were disappointed.

  It was surreal to say the least.

  What would be your dream career?

  if you could have any job, career .......something you are very passionate about , what would it be?.

  i would be a photographer,,,,,,,taking picutures world wide, and hopefully be on the cover of time magazine , national geographic.. my second choice would be a makeup artist like kevin alcoin ( sp) , he could do magic and make anyone look like who he wanted them to be.

  truely an artist and too bad he passed away.

  An Interview With Lady Lee

  i had some thoughts running through my head the other day and i was thinking that instead of just asking them we could do something good for everyone.

  lady lee agreed to answer some questions for me?kind of like an interview of sorts.

  i hope it benefits and gives a different perspective on a subject near and dear to us.

  she really believes in some of the things she said, others things she is speculating on she admitted.... i admired her open mind to not thinkng she has all the answers.

  she is not a christain she said.

  my son and husband sat up for along time, comparing notes , debating on comparing what the bible says, what scientific evidence, historical evidence says, regarding jesus.

  I'm in a very similiar place as you. Coming away from the organization with "all of the answers" to a place where you question everything and have no way to "prove" the answers is frustrating. We think that if we know the answers, our lives will be more complete and purposeful. But then again, I think about when I was an active JW. My life was not as satisfying as it is now. Now that I've the freedom to read and think; explore and express my truth and myself.

  I've come to a place where I'm "ok" with not knowing the answers. I live my life intuitively and still keep my eyes and ears open for answers and lessons everywhere. I observe the patterns in life and feel that there is so much we are not aware of, so much we have yet to learn, and some things we can experience only when we are honestly open to them and with ourselves.

  I just read The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck. Like most books promoting a certain "truth" or belief, I take in the perspective and may think, "I can see truth to that," or "that sounds pretty whacked." I am just happy that I can do these things now and expand my worldview.

  Whatever the case, I'm enjoying the journey. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? I'm happy for this moment and for the opportunity to explore and question. It keeps life interesting.

  What is truth? It depends who you ask.

  I found your story interesting to read. There are so many similiar themes that run through our lives that lead us out of the organization. In your case, those in "charge" made the transistion for you even easier and your resolve stronger.

  I was here when you began the forum and have observed its evolution from a small "coffee shop" environment to a h20 outpost "outpost", and through its ups and downs to its current form today. It has always served a personal purpose to each member, and has obviously accomplished its task to those who have moved on.

  I appreciate all you've done to provide a medium for others and the support of your wife to make JWD possible. It is quite understandable that the time and sacrifice expended into this forum should eventually cease on your part... you have a healthy attitude towards letting it go when the time is right for you.

  Help w/Art Memorial Project

  my good friend, colleague, fellow teacher and beer drinking buddy wayne myers died of cancer last week.

  he died of chemo poisoning before the cancer could kill him.

  he taught biology and was from kansas.

  Jws writing 2 relatives of the Breaved

  i understand that some jws write 2 the relatives of those in the newspaper obituaries,trying 2 convert them.. 1 ex-jw says she did that.. know any instances.

  I wrote several letters to some in my community when we had some tragic accidents involving teenagers and a bus/train crash. It wasn't so much to convert them than it was to express my condolences and to share the hope of the resurrection. I would sometimes include a tract and comforting thoughts from the Bible. My letters were sincere and written out genuine compassion for the difficult time they were going through.

  It was the most quality time I ever spent in "service."

  Death sucks. It's nice to know people care, especially strangers. I'd do it now too, except I'd leave out the Biblical references and religious overtones. It would be a neighborly gesture, not a preaching one.
