Mussings on Society

opening myself up to a lot of criticism...but here goes.. i guess i'm getting more cynical...and losing hope in society in general...here's what bothers me.. when i was a kid back in the 1970's i could walk out the door in the morning...and not come home until supper...and i was safe.

those days are long gone.

as i've stated before...society has become oversexualized...and has lost it's moral compass.

Today, even in the most rural areas, school rifle teams are a distant memory, a teacher that allows a student to bring any part of a firearm whatsoever to school would be fired in a heartbeat and a student that so much as brings an empty, decapped shellcasing into class is liable to be expelled. Who's afraid here?

No offense, but thank goodness school rifle teams are a distant memory, I couldn't imagine attending one of those classes. Then again, I wasn't really allowed to attend any extra classes but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be something involving making a gun stock. The whole picture reminds me of Bowling For Columbine where Moore gets a gun at a bank for opening an account. You see guns and banks and guns and schools just don't mix.

Dial-up internet and unwanted long distance phonce calls

my neighbour just came over and showed me her bell canada bill.

she had 500$ worth of long distance phone calls made last month, that she didn't make.

they were all made to spain.. she phoned bell canada and they said it was probably done by someone on the internet.. how can that happen?.

Dan, I was just kidding, I was merely repeating what Clark had said that old Rumsy had told him shortly after 9/11-which I thought were hilarious but not really when you think about it on an individual basis as to how many people are dying when those good old targets get hit.

Price of gas....

the price of gasoline sure is getting high, in my area it is about $1.65, i guess not too bad compared to other areas.

i'm not too worried because my camry gets pretty good gas mileage and i don't usually have to commute too far.. however, i think this summer it may reach over $2 in many areas.

i just wonder how this will affect summer aux.

Yeah, I think it sucks for everyone here in the states, especially for the poorer who will be most affected. However, it may be what's best in the long run if it gets us thinking about more fuel efficient, environment friendlier cars and alternative fuel resources like solar energy. The transition won't be painless though. I think some form of solar energy will ultimately win out, bar none, the sun in the most abundant resource we have here on earth.

I for one appreciate Rumsfeld's honestly about things to blow up when he said that there were no good targets to blow up in Afghanistan after 9/11. Hey, everyone knows the juicy tagets were in Iraq, why waste a million dollar bomb on a pile of dirt and rocks in Afghanistan?

Price of gas....

I know many Regular Pioneers already have most of their time in by June or July but I'm hoping the price of gasoline may mute enthusaism for summer Aux. pioneering, fingers crossed. However, I know I never was ahead when I was regular pioneering, I was still struggling in August to get my hours in, uh-what a waste.

Sadly, because my parents believed and still believe the end is right around the corner, they never really properly planned for retirement. Thus, they will be barely be able to take care of themselves, let alone leave anything to the WT. Looks like the WT shot themselves in the foot when it came to my parents, of course they have been bleeding them little by little for over 25 years.

Abortion, and the population explosion, what your veiw.

one of the very real dangers that we face today is the population explosion.

i read that the world's population "now" doubles about every 40 years,

this explosive rate is like cancer,, that no longer follows the proper cell multiplication arrangement in the body and threatens the life of the organism.

Recently, the author Naomi Wolf came to our campus to talke about Getting Drunk and Hooking Up. There was an open and honest discussion about why teens do this if in the end it doesn't provide lasting happiness. We arrived at the fact that we kids don't like to take the time for normal relationships and yes girls get horny too, so why not hook up randomly. It made me sad that I missed the 60's where contaception more widely avalaible and disease was less prevelent.

We also talked about the explosion of the porn industry and how this has affected sexual relations especially among youngsters. I also found it interesting how sex education in school often misses the point about the clit and how to make your lady happy. Male ejaculation is almost always taught but the ladies seem to miss out. Thus the overall point is that if the ladies are more in charge and able to tell the guys how they want it, they will also be able to tell them to put the condom on as well, there problem solved.

Yes sir, I escaped a terrible cult that I was involved in and was able to return to normal civilian life. Further miracles followed when I was able to meet a nice normal but "wordly" girl to marry and have a child with. The miracles just kept pouring in, from being able to buy a house to the chance to go to college, someone sure does love me.
