JT, you said " i personally find that hard to believe- perhaps the study is just with the boys and not the female". This illustrates the point perfectly! It is the little boys that this CHILD ABUSER endangers, not the woman.

now heroux has done a year in prison, followed by home confinement for two years on an electronic bracelet, probation for two years and parole for life.
it was later discovered after heroux was newly released from prison that an elder in his new congregation was in the process of arranging for heroux to conduct a bible study with a woman and her two small children.

Thank you for your clear, logical reply. I understand what you are saying. We differ in that I do believe in God, but I agree with your assessment that there are many conflicting ideas and theologies in the Bible, and that any attempt to reconcile them into one consistent doctrine just results in creating yet another doctrine which doesn't exactly correspond to any single text. My assessment of belief or non-belief in God and what the Bible teaches is that in the end it is all speculation. This is an issue I have with the WT organization in that they treat their speculations as facts. I suppose other religions do the same.

Hello dissenters! Like I said, I'm no scholar and my stated beliefs are only my humble opinions. These are however honest opinions and to me fit the biblical account of God's purposes for mankind and the planet earth. As a Christian I'm always open to better interpretations that provide more accurate knowledge. So, enlighten me regarding your opinions :
1.) Why God created the earth? What is his purpose for this planet, now and future?
2.) Why did God create mankind and why is it we die. Did we inherit our sinful ways because of Adam and Eve's original sin or did God create us as sinful creatures? If Adam and Eve had not sinned, how would things be different than they became?
3. Why do you think all Christians go to heaven and what is it they will do there?
4. Do you really believe that God is going burn up the literal planet earth and destroy the literal heavens? If so why?
5.) Do you believe in God? If so, is it the God of the Bible or another God?
6. Do you believe the Bible account of creation? Do you believe in evolution and if so what accounts for the intra-harmony of the living and non-living ecology?
By the way, I did not attack anyone else's religious beliefs, I merely stated my own. Other folks can be just as right as I am and they can also be just as wrong. FairMinded enough?

Hello ClassAvenger, I believe that the answer to your question is that JWs do have some things right. Since we know that whatever it is that God purposes will come to be let's consider:
1.) God's purpose for Adam and Eve was that they and their offspring (all mankind) would have everlasting life on "Earth". He also purposed that mankind would make the Earth into a paradise. Have they done that yet? No, so that too must occur.
2.) Those that go to heaven to be with Christ are to be Kings and Priests. Over what and who? The Earth and its inhabitants. This must mean that they with Jesus will rule mankind as kings and will in their priestly positions act as mediators between mankind and God as long as that is needed. Who will be in heaven and who will be on earth? I don't know, but my preference would be to enjoy life as a perfect eternally youthful person, on a paradise earth ruled by Christ and God.
I'm no scholar but in reading the Bible I certainly do see that it holds out both hopes, that of everlasting life on earth for most of mankind and that of eternal life in heaven for others. Who exactly fits into these two groups is a matter of educated speculation; your opinion is just as valid as mine.
The JW religion main shortfall in my opinion is not "doctrine" but one of missing the spirit of God's word. The many, many errors of the WT organization have and are still coming to light. This is to be expected (for all other religions too) because Jehovah is a God of Light, not darkness. The WT organization has acted as if it is exempt from accountability to God for applying His word to themselves, and this is their downfall.

a family member that is a elder told us that now two spousal abuse charges (filed with the police) is a dfing offense for the abuser, and that they are free to remarry (i assume he means the elders won't df the victim for adultry).
i assume this is local elder margin of your pa book eddicts.
because the watchtowers official stance has not changed.
I find it hard to believe that this new policy rumor is true since the Bible clearly states that "fornication" (however that is defined) is the only scriptural grounds for divorce with the possibility of marrying another. I certainly am not for a marraige pardner staying is an abusive marriage and neither do I beliueve is God. However, for anyone to say that abuse constitutes scriptural grounds for divorce and FREES ONE TO MARRY ANOTHER is apostasy from God word (not that the WTS hasn't done this before).
I also have never heard of individual circuits being given leaway to deviate from WT teachings. I know that this does happen in an unofficial way, even between congregations in the same circuit, but certainly not with HQ approval.

the internet has only been around for 10 years, yet it has profoundly changed the way we live, work and entertain ourselves.
particularly for children, they have readily adapted to this technology so much so, that teachers and educators are finding that their traditional based curriculums are leaving kids bored.
these are the kids who are used to surfing, instant messenging and downloading digital music.
Off on a tangent regarding the Societies warnings and harsh discipline with regard to reading anti-JW (translate apostate) literature or visiting web sites of the same nature. A thinking person's first thought should be "what is it they are afraid of me knowing". The next thing should be to go to the forbidden web sites and also read apostate literature in order to arrive at an informed personal opinion. I think that there are many JWs who visit web sites such as this one and even though I don't know who they are I respect them the more for doing so.
Truth is not afraid of "light". Darkness (the mental kind) is an ally of those who are afraid of the real truth, which is facts. In my opinion, anyone who refuses to examine all sides of any issue (religious or otherwise) is either stupid or just plain doesn't care!

i was recently talking to a jw elder at my job that i have been working at for over 20 years(he knows that i am da'ed but still talks to me trying to get me to come back) and i brought up the un scandal and all of the wts scandals that are hitting the wts.
he said it does not surprise him that "apostates" would try and deceive many jw's with lies and 1/2 truths.
i told him that i can get a printed copy of the un ngo membership and that the wts was a member for over 10 years.
Booker-T, the real issue with the WTS being a NGO is that according to their own standards they committed spiritual fornication. Why they became a NGO is a 'red herring" since "why" doesn't excuse what they did. If you or I committed fornication, would having a "good" motive mean we were any less guilty of sin in God's eyes? Ask your elder friend to do some research on WT articles from the 1970's regarding Jehovah's viewpoint of "any" religious organization that has relations with the UN.

adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with god?
whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of god.--james 4:4. .
for you who may still believe in the the bible, how do you understand the above text?
NeonMadman, a couple of comments:
1. I don't believe Daniel, Josephh or Mordicai were in ELECTED positions, were they? So what they did fits my opinion of being OK.
2. Seems to me that 1 Cor. 15:33 ties right in with being no part of the world.
3. My comment about working out one's salvation with "fear and trembling" comes from by Baptist days.
Thanks for expressing your opinions.

My take on not being friends with the world would be:
1. Not to participate in or advocate practices that violate Bible principles, such as fornication, lying, stealing, doing your fellow man wrong, etc.
2. Close friendships with non-Christians would probably fall into the category of "friendship with the world". This of course would not mean that these people should not be treated as ones self wants to be treated.
3.I would think that involvement in wordly politics would constitute being part of the world. I do not think that holding certain appointed-to or hired-into positions such as City Manager, and so forth would be wrong.
Let's face it being a "real" Christian has always been a challange and one is to work out their salvation with fear and trembling.

one thing i've seen on this board is that fear has been a motivator for many to stay on as witnesses.
jws are afraid to get the elders mad at them, hurt their families.
they're afraid to be talked about and dissected by the "brothers and sisters" because they are not considered up to par.
I suppose how you feel about the time you have spent as a JW depends on where you were in your life when you became one. Those who had their heads on streight to begin with probably have been effected in a negative way. Someone like myself who was on the road to self-destruction might view it differently. All coins have two sides.
