You have been on my mind alot the last few days. Then I saw your name on here and got all excited. The weather is exactly like it was last year when you were here. Keep thinking about us sitting around in the living room, chatting away, and watching my green TV**LOL**

Sisters of the Stars & Stripes

i have just tv-watched two very famous and very rich fleshly sisters, venus and serena williams, play out the final of the 2001 us open tennis championship for women.. venus, the older girl, won the match as expected after two regulation, rather ho hum sets of 'grand slam' tennis.

(maybe their dad had already done a deal with them on who was going to be the winner today.

) anyway, the big new york crowd seemed to get their money's worth, more maybe from the novelty value of sibling rivalry rather than high standard court play.

The only thing I have read on them said that their Mother was a JW and their father was not. Someone else has said they had read somewhere that the girls said they have done door to door work but no one knows if they are even baptised Witnesses. I myself didn't see this in any article so I don't know if it is true or not.

Maybe they are considered members in good standing or maybe they do not believe in"the truth" and they are keeping it to themselves in order to have a relationship with their Mom. Or maybe they believe it's "the truth" but play tennis anyway. Whatever it is why be angry at them? Should you be angry, yeah I think so but I think it's the WTS you should be mad at not the girls. Like Comf said with as public as they are this might help loosen the ridgid stand they have imposed on the R&F.

They are very talented ladies on the tennis court and I admire them getting out there and doing what they do best. Instead of letting the talent go in order to appease a few old men in Brooklyn.

Had a setback, but I'm okay now.

last night the husband and i went out to dinner and a nightclub with the few remaining jw friends that we have, which are not many.

we laughed and drank (jw's know where to find the best booze) and had a good time.

this morning, i told the husband that maybe we should make an appearance at the kh on sundays only, so that we can hang onto the few remaining friends that we have.

I think alot of people have the fleeting thought of going to a meeting to preserve friendships. I know my partner had them. About 3 yrs ago she even decided to attend the memorial but changed her mind at the last min. and we ended up sitting at the local pub drinking beer instead and talking about how she feels about the whole thing.

Even though it has been almost 4 yrs since she attended a meeting, she still has a few friends that maintain contact with her. She has even had a talk with her PO telling him she had some doubts. He stopped her in mid sentence and said, I have a few too but if you do not talk about them then it will be okay. He said she could keep doing what she was doing(not attending meetings) and still see her friends. He told her some would probably shun her but her friends would maintain contact. So that is what she has done.

I think it is sometimes harder on her then she would lead me to believe but if this is what she wants to do, then I support her in that.

I hope that your friends will not give up your friendship. Even though they may get "the talk" from the elders, maybe they will decide to buck the system and stay in contact. You never know**hugs** to ya

Can I share a great experience with you all?

just wanted to pass along a recent experience that has helped open my eyes about many things.

i wasn't going to share this with the db but with all of the crap going on around here lately i thought it might be nice to post something that i found to be uplifting.

a few of you that i exchange emails with already know that my leukemia came out of remission recently.

I Said Goodbye

my father was rushed by ambulance from his rest home to st. marks hospital in salt lake city, utah friday, but i only just heard about it.

i received a call from the floor nurse and she told me he is not expected to live.

his lungs are filled fill up with fluid and are continuing to fill u with more fluid: he has pneumonia.

More Bethelite Table Crumbs Please!

in a controversial post in a separate thread, janh makes an extremely good observation that a certain former gb member will likely carry many, many wts "top secrets" to his grave, for whatever reasons he does not wish to divulge such.. then, on this db, former bethelites constantly exchange posts where their word choice is "cloaked" so that many of us who were not insiders are left guessing at meaning, people, etc.

obviously, even individual members of this fraternity have unique experiences and insights.

if such info is not disseminated, it is lost if that person dies naturally or in an accident.. would you folks please post more elaborately so that the rest of us can benefit from your knowledge and experience.. the statement that motivated this post made a silent reference to the author of the happiness book.

After reading this thread and some of the responses to the one from Barbara Anderson, I think we will be lucky to ever hear from her again.

If everyone would just take a deep breath here and really think, I venture to say you would see that this is playing right into the WTS hands. They will either get more info and find new stratgies on how to handle this, or they will get people like Max and Mrs Anderson so fed up with the pettiness going on here that they will leave and not give out any more info. At least here they won't which is good for the WTS because then it isn't out on the net for all to see.

Of course everyone wants to know more and to ask for more is not the problem. The problem is in the demanding they tell us more and then getting so upset when we are told it's not a good time to say more.
I do not see this as being about cliques. I see this as using some common sense and not tipping the hand to the WTS.

I think all that are being accused of being in a clique, have shown they will give us more info when it is possible and safe to do so. Mrs. Anderson gave us some wonderful insight. Let's thank her for that instead of turning this into, who is more popular and who is not.

Did Ray Franz write COC out of anger?

i asked my gf who is a jw but not an active one if she has ever read coc and she tells me she has and that his book was mostly lies about the organization and that's the reason he left was because he was tempted by a hooker and ended up sleeping with her.

he told the elders what he did because he was looking for help and he ended up getting df.

later he found out he ended up contract hiv.

My partner asked me to get the book and read it first. She wanted to be sure it wasn't full of anger and/or hatred. From the first sentence in the intro I could tell it was not. I read it to her and she had me send the book to her. There were two things that struck her about the book, the first was how full of love it was for his fellow brothers and sisters. The second was the documentations he included in the book.

I'll warn you now, when she read it she was very shook up. She, like your fiance was IA but still believed. She read it in one night and we speant 3 hrs on the phone (long distance) discussing what she had read. Like you I am "worldly" and it was a good thing for me to read also. I highly recommend you give it a go so that you will have a better understanding of what she is going through.

she read my stories at free minds and recognized one of the characters.

my brief reply was taken as an excuse to question me about the possibility of my returning to the jws.

Do you think she really got into trouble or was she just not able to handle any more? I suspect your cognitive dissonance diagnosis is on the mark.

If you do hear from her, expand on Farkle's idea and ask her why when the WTS admitted they were wrong they did not ask back the ones that had been DF for knowing they were.
