Welcome, welcome, welcome, Agnes! It's great to have folks like you here, because you're "allowed" to be here; and hopefully you can pass on some of the valuable info you come across here and on related links, and hopefully be able to get through to some of your family. I believe that if many of us had heard some of the information here, exposing the Watchtower from someone like yourself, it could have saved them many years of bondage, not to mention their kids.

This Generation Has Passed Away
by Big Tex ini was raised by the society with the constant drumbeat in my head: "this generation will by no means pass away ...".
when i was a kid, "this generation" was defined as one who not only was alive in 1914 but was aware of the changes in the world.
they were old enough to know the world before 1914, the war on earth, the war in heaven, jesus' installation as king and so on.. .

Hi again, Gary B.
Awesome insights as usual! Love your stuff.
skiz/David - Your input is appreciated! I think you just don't know Gary B. yet - he's very tongue in cheek when he uses that kind of rambling format. See the difference when he gets serious? Check out his writings on Randy Watters' site - some of it is downright hilarious. Enjoy!
Best wishes to all.

What Regrets Did You Have Because You Were A Witness?
by minimus inone of the biggest regrets a person might have is that they let their children become involved in the whole jw "thing".
you know---everything from the elders always cornering them to "investigate" something or even having the parents "turn in" their own kids......is there anything that you especially regret?

I've read all the replies and though I'm exceedingly glad to be out, I can't think of any real regrets. Probably a genetic thing - my mom never brooded much - and she had a lot to resent, but it wasn't her style. I always seem to tell myself, Well, who knows what might have happened if I hadn't been a JW? Maybe something worse. I'm really glad I divorced my dyed-in-the-wool JW husband, but not sorry I married him, because my children would never have existed. And I can't imagine never having known them!

Welcome, Meg, and you are definitely in at least one of the right places!!! So glad you found us. That vicious Organization will not crush you - you have friends here and a BIG FRIEND in Jesus.
And you, _b12, are adorable!

Thanks, wannaexit,
I have both of those books; but what got YOU to read them? Actually, I can probably answer my own question - no matter what kind of Witness we are, or what kind of person we are, the truth about the ORG and life as a Witness has got to make anyone ask questions, even if only secretly to ourselves.
Thanks for your post.

Were your prayers ever answerd by Jehovah?
by micheal ini recall praying countless of times about very specific things, "worked in harmony with my prayers" and nothing.
anything that remotely seemed like an answer was either coincidence or my own determination to get it done.. so, how about you?
did jehovah answer your prayers or were you like me, did you feel very frustrated and guilty because they were never answered?

Never, while I was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. And that makes sense! Since He never backed such an apostate, false prophet organization that trampled on His Son and Provision for Salvation....

The Biggest Scandal In Your Congregation
by Hunyadi ini attended a notorious congregation as a child, the infamous winter gardens congregation!
my cousin and his best friend, both named joe, were elders, my cousin was the po and the other joe was a total loser suck up who wanted to be just like my cousin, joe.
what was even funnier, as i get off point a bit, is that "suck up" joe's wife, cathy, did everything she could do to get her pudgy lil self to dress, look, walk, and talk like my cousin joe's wife, clementine.

A committee has been formed to deal with allegations of child molestation by a brother who was recently arrested; his bail was set at $300,000, and his parents bailed him out. I'm anxiously awaiting the outcome and details of this case, and I hope to God the children involved are not too badly damaged. I've been doing a fade, but my family still attend the congregation where it's happening. They know who it is, but they're not allowed to say, which makes sense. I wonder if Silent Lambs knows about this one yet??
Another recent scandal in the same local area was that a long-time pioneer sister, proud mother of an only child who just recently returned from Bethel (with his complete collections of video tapes of the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" (Angel was the bad/good/bad vampire that Buffy was attracted to...unfortunately, one of my adult children liked to watch this horrid show, so I know about it), and married to a very zealous pioneer/ Presiding Overseer (he used to stand in the doorway between the main hall and the vestibule handing out un-requested auxiliary pioneer applications - how presumptuous), was having a years-long sexual affair with another elder in their congregation. All 3 of these people have had parts on every assembly I have attended in the last few years. So pathetic, but again, it shows that God's Spirit does not appoint the elders in the congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses, and His Spirit is not involved in the Assembly programs, and it proves that all the work these 3 have been doing to earn their salvation all these years is pointless. God's spirit was not operating on them.
There are others, but I have already posted them on other threads.
Love and best wishes to all.

Hidden Images; last time.
by Hunyadi inthanks again to all those who responded with an open mind to my postings regarding hidden images in the wt publications, but wow, i have heard from some pretty forceful personalities who are apparently still pissed off about getting duped by the wtbts.
so many flames, so many flamers .
calm down, get some pot, get some beer, get some therapy, but please get over it and yourselves.

Hunyadi, you're right - if the Watchtower publications were from "God's Organization", the Holy Spirit would not have allowed satanic images to be put in them, no matter who it was who put them in the artwork. IMO
It does matter, very much, that the images are there. It shows where the literature, and obviously the teachings in the lit, are REALLY COMING FROM.
Thanks for your work, and your posts. I enjoy them very much. And thanks for re-posting Dave's story about his consulting trip to Bethel. What an eye-opener for many! I read it on Randy Watters' site, but I read it again. It is so candid and helpful.
Cheers!
