  well, after lurking here for about 3 weeks, i finally registered and decided to "join the club.

  " reading your posts has really been a great help in continuing on the path i know to be right.

  a little history if you'll bear with me.... born and raised a jw....baptized at 13, df'ed at 16. i've been reinstated for two years.

  saturday my son is going to go to a 6 hour driving course to get his d/l.

  i have been letting him practice driving and he is doing very well.

  i am glad he is going to thru the course , i am sure they will highlight alot of things he needs to know.

  How sweet, how sweet! How I love candid photos of quiet moments between mother and baby - when you can see that look of "being in love" with your child. Only there's a double bonus in your picture because your son is looking back at you. I only remember seeing that once before - I'll never forget it. Nothing so lovely - I'll tell that experience at some other time. (It was a sister with her baby boy at the District Convention.)

  My life ... and how JWD came to be - Part 1

  a few people have asked how jwd came about and what my own story is and while i've posted it in bits and bobs, i've never tried to tell it as a story so here goes .... living in suburbia.

  i was born a jw to jw parents who had recently been missionaries / pioneers in ireland and taken literature into countries like spain when it was banned but who were now living in suburbia near to where they had both been brought up.

  we lived in a new semi-detached house in a cul-de-sac at the bottom of a hill - fantastic for building go-carts and racing down !

  Thanks, Simon, I enjoyed reading that very much. What an adventurous, energetic little "boy life" you had, before all the adult family stuff had to interfere.

  Nice to hear about another part of the world, too!

  Looking forward to more.

  By the way, I also think it can help to make very new ones feel more at ease, knowing what sort of chap ( ) runs this very active board.

  Is the organization really 'clean'?

  Great post, Hushai, and welcome to the forum!

  Definitely not a clean organization - because while the "wrongdoers" are busy doing their "wrongs", they are welcomed by the congregation, and folks associate with them, till they're found out. Then what happens? Once they have cleaned up their lives again, and are humble and repentant and would actually be better association, this is when they shun them for a year, and limit them for a year after they return.

  The leadership are such morons.

  Anyone have evidence of the WT speaking at the UN?

  a couple of days ago i was surfing freeminds, and thought i came across something that alanf wrote regarding the wt appearing before the un economic and social council.

  now i can't find it!

  does anyone know anything about this - or any other instance of the wt appearing before the un - or where i might be able to find more info?

  i've got the first part of my state certification this morning...a three hour exam covering the last month and a half of training on state law, the judicial system, case practice, interventions, indicators of maltreatment and abuse et cetera and i've got anxiety out the wazoo (btw, does anyone know what a wazoo is??).

  i have to pass this in order to keep my job and i've heard that it's pretty difficult, so i'm stressing just a wee bit.

  i'm thinking the gallon of coffee i've already had this morning may not have been such a good idea??

  I need to prove that the WT BS is false

  to a very close relative, who said they will listen if i can mail them info.

  basically i need to present the truth about the truth, but only things that can be verified either in society print, or in the case of the un, from the un itself, no opinions, just documents that can be checked, preferably old and new and on varying matters, inconsistencies, blatant changes in doctrine etc, with references.. .

  it's always been so 'matter of fact' for me that it's all false, i fear that if i try to provide information with just my own mindset, i will miss a lot and might not provide the best info, i have tried searching on the site but there are so many posts i struggle to find even posts i remember seeing last month.. .

  dh,

  If you go over to freeminds.org, he has a HUGE site full of proofs and suggestions. Tons of proofs from within Society's own publications, and those original pubs are available to purchase at reasonable prices. He has a lot of UN proof, lots of Watchtower Quotes, etc.

  The Jan. 1, 1989 Watchtower was altered when it came out in the bound volume.

  The Nov. 8, 1994 Awake has an article on 1914, and page 4 speaks of "The Creator's Promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away." But you'll notice that apparently the CREATOR no longer promises that (broken promise of the CREATOR ??)

  See Hebrews 6:17,18 for the "unchangeableness of His counsel" etc.

  Much more, but I have to go to work!
