Boys Gets Stuck In Animal Game Machine
by DevonMcBride inboy gets stuck in animal game machine
sheboygan, wis. (jan. 5) - a 7-year-old boy had to be rescued with the help of a locksmith saturday after crawling into a supermarket's stuffed animal game machine while his father talked on the telephone.jeffrey roland debbink.
"he was sitting right in there with the stuffed animals," said shift commander mark zittel of the sheboygan fire department.. he said the boy, whose name was not released because he is a minor, crawled through about an 8-inch-by-10-inch opening to get into the glass enclosure via a chute where the toys come out, but when he tried to get back out his way was blocked.. the stuffed animals are prizes that can be hooked by players with a crane-like device.. "his dad was three feet away at a pay phone," zittel said.

My view was:
many people I've met who are religious adherents are so to receive a 'life code' to follow. The structure and rules provide a moral compass to live by. This applies to more than just JWs. many people I've met who are religious adherents are so to receive a 'life code' to follow. The structure and rules provide a moral compass to live by. not all religions, of course. And I agree with your points re: JWs. I think they would also apply to Mormons, many Baptist and other fundamentalist sects. Not all religions push recruiting as hard, although I have relatives that are Christian and spend a lot of time 'witnessing', trying to save others.
Maybe a lot of people who don't believe in god go to church to be able to do good works....I don't know....but it sounds kind of suspicious to me. Why? because there are tons of ways to do good works such as helping the needy without church involvement to do it. More direct means, such as food banks, homeless shelters, Habitat for Humanity, Project Open Hand, etc. I have involvement with all of these and see lots of people doing so as well. And we are not associated with any church to do so.
But generally speaking, LW sounds like we agree a lot on this topic. and yes, the JW administration is a nefarious lot....with a lot of people who want to be led lining up to follow.

I agree with the posters who stated that religion fills an emotional need, sometimes a weakness of character. What I mean by this is many people I've met who are religious adherents are so to receive a 'life code' to follow. The structure and rules provide a moral compass to live by. This applies to more than just JWs.
What is also interesting is that many individuals demonstrate strong moral fiber in absence of religion. They do not need a governing group to dictate morality, basic human decency, right from wrong.
When you are born into a religion and forced to comply, slowly inducted into teachings and beliefs via mind control, it is a different story. You're not weak, you are taken advantage of as a vulnerable child.
On a separate note, I read the posts about Larry Graham...I was a JW in the Oakland, CA area. I saw him and his family members regularly at conventions at the Oakland Coliseum. Never saw him 'whisked around' with an entourage, he would mill about just like everyone else and sat in the general seating like others. Maybe because he grew up in the bay area, he was more comfortable than in other cities where he had more of the 'starlike' quality.

Although I am new here, I quickly learned to refrain from posting on the politically-oriented threads, because IMO I thought they were heavily slanted towards a very conserviative point of view.
LOL, that is why I felt compelled to post a short note in response to Stacy's comments. In fact, in particular I have avoided replying to Stacy's comments .... even though I have had many a sassy reply. I have elected to give her the benefit of the doubt, given she is only 20 years old. I have a 23 year old daughter ... and realize how quickly they are ready and willing to offer (no, TOUT) their opinions based on very limited experience. Not to mention, the drama of it all. I remember my own confidence in my wisdom when I was that age. funny how time rounds one, isn't it?
Big Tex, I would suggest that maybe you consider this as a contributing factor...remember the folly of youth, when we were so VERY convinced of our positions......20 years later and looking back, we all can find one or 2 things to blush about.

Amazing-you have referenced many claims which you appear to believe have been substantiated. Can you provide links or references which document any of the assertions. I would be very interested in reading the back-up if you could please share it.
Thanks much, Bisous

Whats a Real family Really like and how does one get there?
by Celtic inthey say patience is a good thing, but what happens when your patience starts to run out?.
what's it like having a real real family, a family where different members look out for one another and offer support when the going gets tough?.
i feel somewhat ashamed of myself for posting this question.
