At DAC 2007, I was all for trying the bugs ... but when I saw loads of the poor squirming creatures being dumped into the pot for a boiling demise, I couldn't touch a bite.
I might come for the good company tho.

Ian (Dansk) in hospital with CMV

claire asked me to let the board know that ian is back in the hospital and expected to be there for about a week.. those of you who have been following the weekly vigil thread know that his cmv has returned.
the virus is not responding adequately to the tablets, so ian needs to be medicated intravenously.. please keep ian and claire in your prayers.. marjorie.

Why is infant Mortality in US worse than Morocco or Costa Rica?

why are the deaths of the premature higher in the us?.
why is the mortality for african americans babies more than 2.5% higher than for others ( 5% as opposed to 13%)?

Watched the film Sicko by Michael Moore......
by fifi40 inwatched this film last night and i just wondered what others thoughts are on it........sorry if this topic has already been discussed.. basically the film picks on the usa's health care system as compared to other countries including canada, britain, france and cuba.. in britain we take for granted the nhs which we pay for through national insurance contributions, children up to 16 and the retired over 65 get free health care.............watching sicko made me appreciative of the system we have in place which is similar to the other countries mentioned.. thoughts anybody???
