Most people here would say to just leave it be because if you truly are free of the WTS & its designations then you shouldn't care whether they list you as DF or DA since it is a moot point. However, if it offers closure then I suggest writing the letter...

Would a letter of DA do a DF'ed guy any good?
by czarofmischief inbesides the visceral satisfaction of sticking it the man that abused me for so many years - would it help to write a letter of disassociation and send copies to the elders, the society, and maybe a lawyer?.
my reasoning is that as a disfellowshipped person, i am regarded as a sinner - someone who was led astray by weakness and sin.
this is true.

drlove, what is false about the WTS being an NGO for ten years? Being an NGO clearly states that you adhere to all of the United Nations charter & it also means that you agree to assist them with distributing information that supports the United Nations...

My point to all this is that there ARE other religions that have fanatical tendencies. What I find extremely amusing is that my boss is quick to call the JW's a cult, but can't see the similarities with her church.
When people deal with something close to home then they are usually too defensive to actually see any faults or idiosyncracies. For instance, how many Witnesses have you talked to about flaws in the blood doctrine or about the UN NGO situation? How many didn't believe a word even after showing proof or dismissed what you told them as a small matter? This can even happen outside of religion...consider how many scientists dismiss a new scientific fact just because it flies in the face of previous theories. For instance, in the late 19th century, many thought that diseases such as cholera & malaria were caused by literally 'bad air'...this was called the miasma theory. In fact, the origin of the word 'malaria' is from the Italian phrase of mala aria (bad air)...a few scientists actually knew for most of that century that it wasn't bad air but contaminated water (cholera) & mosquitoes transmitting through bites (malaria) that caused these diseases. However, because the previous miasma theory had much older research it was respected and other theories were ignored (no matter how concisely researched & explained).

Chappelle's show RULES
by FirstInLine indave chappelle, star and creator of chappelle's show is the best comedian currently active.
i enjoy his show on a regular basis.
he also has one of the best hbo stand-up specials ever.. for those who are not familiar with him by name he is black, american, a bit thin, shaved head, narrow jaw with a big ol' set of lips and something of a higher voice.

^^^^^^^^^ That is the funniest skit I have seen on the show yet...the part where Rick James slaps Murphy (and Charlie's explanation afterward) was some great material. Surprised me that I had never even heard of Eddie Murphy's brother...

I saw him live last year and I always loved Half Baked. His show, though, has really put him in another league...I loved the episode where he was spoofing the 'hurry up' light from the Oscars...also, the real life Grand Theft Auto skit (where he is the guy from the videogame) was another good one.

I figured that they would freaking mess up on the translation of Pokemon...nevermind that it is actually a combination of the words Pocket & Monster or that the person who made Pokemon originally thought of them from when he was tending his garden and he saw little bugs. What is with the demonizing of any cartoon characters?

If Jesus died so Christians can be saved......
by DevonMcBride inthan why aren't there "thank you's" going out to those responsible for his death?
obviously god pre-planned the crucifixion and resurrection.
so those that killed him were following god's plan.. devon

I know that 99% are x-JW's and thusly from a very controlling Christian organization but isn't the anti-Christian rhetoric a little strong in this thread?
EDIT: Not saying that as an insult, I just think that calling a whole religion 'idiocy' is really being unfair. Then again, I guess I wouldn't object if someone said it about JWs so I should just quiet down...

Nope...I was nice to the CO for no reason (except that he was the CO) but otherwise I was nice to many people because I was a kid and actually thought they cared about me.

1993 Circuit Assembly Demonstration that Involved "The Firm" (1993)
by FirstInLine ini remember in 1993 at one of the circuit conventions that they did a drama in which a young adult woman living with her parents was going to go see "the firm" (1993) with some other young adult jws.
when she told her parents of her plans they expressed their concerns and she pleaded that sometimes a really good movie is ok to go see if it is rated r. she heard from reliable sources that there wasnt anything really bad with it like gratuitous sex, drugs or demonic themes.
in the end her parents convinced her that jehovah would still not approve because it was rated r. she was reminded that even worldly people recognize it is a bad movie because they are the ones that gave it the r rating.

I remember that in my district it was almost every assembly that they would mention the evils of video games like Doom...
